Abstract:
An air/hydraulic servomotor unit for providing power assistance for a clutch hydraulic operating system and comprising a compressed air cylinder, a hydraulic slave cylinder, a load proportioning means that determines what ratio of the unit output is derived from the hydraulic and air cylinders, and a clutch operating member. The hydraulic slave cylinder is secured to one end of the air cylinder housing and has a piston which passes through the air cylinder piston so that both pistons can act against the proportioning means. All the unit output loads pass through the proportioning means prior to being transmitted to the operating member.
Abstract:
A motor vehicle has a manually operated change speed gearbox driven by an internal combustion engine through a clutch which is automatically disengageable and re-engageable by operation of a power hydraulic clutch control. The hydraulic control comprises a fluid reservoir connected by a conduit to a control valve connected to the reservoir by a conduit which includes a pump and a one-way valve and a pressure accumulator and a piston and cylinder or fluid pressure operated actuator connected by piping to the control valve. The clutch is operated by the actuator causing disengagement of the clutch when the control valve is operated to relieve fluid pressure in the actuator. The hydraulic control is assembled and filled with hydraulic fluid at some place which can be distant from the vehicle manufacturer's production line. The filled control is transported to where the vehicle is being made and the control is installed in the vehicle; possibly after the filled control has been stored first.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a self-aligning clutch release bearing assembly comprising a rolling element bearing having a rotary race which in use engages with a clutch member, and a non-rotary race mounted on a support for transmission of a clutch release load. The non-rotary race is relatively movable on the support transversely to the rotary axis of the bearing assembly to permit in use self-alignment of the rotary axis of the bearing with rotary axis of the clutch member. This movement is controlled by a layer of viscous material interposed between the support and the non-rotary race. The viscous material exhibits some resilience and up to a given value resistance to plastic flow so that the material locates the non-rotary race but allows it to move to achieve self-alignment on operation of the clutch in use.
Abstract:
Concentric piston and cylinder components of a hydraulic slave cylinder used with a clutch release bearing have their axial movement under a biassing spring limited by latch means in the form of flanges. The flanges each have a radial face and a chamfered face, and one flange is radially deformable, being on a slotted cylindrical extension. The radially deformable flange allows the cylinder to be rapidly assembled without the need for assembly of a separate retaining device.

Abstract:
A securement device for securing a catheter to a patient is provided. The securement device includes a proximal portion having a pliable support and at least one securement arm extending away from the pliable support. The pliable support defines a slot configured to receive at least a portion of a catheter. A distal portion of the securement device includes an adhesive surface configured to be folded over the proximal portion to secure the proximal portion to a patient.

Abstract:
An antiseptic composition suitable for use on skin and wounds comprising a source of an antimicrobial agent and an agent which disrupts biofilms. More, particularly the invention relates to a composition capable of providing effective antimicrobial activity while at the same time avoiding wound and skin irritation and retardation of wound healing.
Abstract:
A sensor for an inflatable cushion, the sensor including a base with a conductive area in an appropriate configuration relative to the area of the patient's anatomy positioned on the cushion. The conductive area of the base can be optimally configured to correspond to the bony prominences of the buttocks or ischia position on an air cell cushion. There are electrodes connected to the conductive area that generate an electromagnetic field of a predetermined configuration. A disturbance of the electromagnetic field created by a change in position of the patient is transmitted to an indicator so that an observer can determine if the patient is appropriately immersed in the cushion.
Abstract:
Methods of enhancing the photostabilizing of silver in medical materials are described. More particularly, the methods increase the photostabilization of silver in certain materials comprising hydrophilic, amphoteric and anionic polymers by subjecting the polymers to solutions containing an organic solvent and silver, during or after which one or more agents are added which facilitate the photostablization of the material.
