摘要： A printing apparatus and method that provides for severing of prints from receiver media being printed. The receiver media is moved in a process direction past plural printing stations and the printing stations are recording images upon the receiver sheet. While printing is occurring a cutting mechanism having one or more cutting elements is operated to cut the receiver media along a transverse direction to separate a previously printed image on the receiver media from a portion of the receiver media being currently printed. The cutting mechanism includes a clamping member located proximate the one or more cutting elements for stopping movement of the receiver sheet downstream of the clamping mechanism to provide for a substantially square cut relative to the process direction of the receiver media.

摘要： A chassis for mounting components in a photographic film scanning apparatus cabinet includes a planar base member, and bearing mounts integral with the base member. The mounts sized and configured to hold bearings against which an arcuate wear plate of a gate of the scanning apparatus registers. The gate is configured to move in a pendulum-like manner across the bearings, with an aperture in the planar member for rotatably accommodating a shaft of a drive system for moving the gate in the pendulum-like manner. Mounts integral with the planar base member are provided for holding an optical system of the scanning apparatus. A continuous integral rib is arranged on the rear surface of the planar member is tuned to a higher natural frequency than that of the scanning frequency for vibrationally isolating the planar base member from other components in the cabinet.

摘要： A clamping arrangement essentially comprising two lever arms driven at one end by a solenoid and having a resilient clamp pad mounted on a flexure member at the other end thereof. The clamp pad is made of a resilient material such as, for example, urethane and has four non-parallel side walls defining an upper face which is complementary to the radial face of the scanning apparatus gate. The sloping side walls of the clamp pad act as a light baffle to prevent reflected light from entering the imaging lens, and the pad is gimballed so that any variations between the upper surface of the clamp pad and the radial surface of the gate will be eliminated attain as perfect a match therebetween as is possible. In another embodiment of the clamping arrangement, a single arm can be utilized in place of the dual arm arrangement described above. The single arm has a Y-shape in which the clamp pad is supported on the branched end of the arm and the solenoid drives the single member. An additional clamp pad can be provided for clamping laminated paper attached to the film for a reprocessing order after the film itself has been clamped by the first-mentioned clamp pad against the gate in the area of the aperture.

摘要： Apparatus for feeding a planar medium from a host tray with a media cavity, including a feed edge adjacent to which the medium is extracted, a sidewall perpendicular to the feed edge, and a spring plate for lifting the medium towards a feeder; a media carrier nested in the cavity, including an edge guide to prevent the medium from moving toward the sidewall, the edge guide having an alignment face for orienting the medium with respect to the feed edge; and an alignment guide in the cavity and having a media guide and a baseplate wider than the medium and disposed over the spring plate, so that the baseplate is lifted when the spring plate lifts. The alignment face and alignment guide together prevent the medium from skewing with respect to the feed edge while the medium is extracted by the feeder.

摘要： An apparatus for driving a scanning gate of a photographic film scanning apparatus utilizes a reversible m s , stepping motor, and a system driven by the motor for moving the gate in a pendulum-like manner. The means comprises a shaft, a gear sector fixedly connected on the shaft and a crank arm fixedly connected on the shaft so as to operatively engage the scanning gate, and a worm configured to be driven by the motor. A biasing device is arranged between the gear sector and a chassis of the scanning apparatus to maintain a positive engagement between the worm and the gear sector. Additional biasing devices are connected between the crank arm and the gate to provide for adjustment of the gate about two axes. The additional biasing devices between the crank arm and the gate include plural springs extending laterally from a pin projecting from a surface of the crank arm facing the gate to a pin mounted on the gate and having an axis parallel to the axis of the pin projecting from the surface of the crank arm, and plural springs extending from pins projecting from opposite sides of the crank arm to pins on the gate having axes parallel to the axes of the pins extending from the opposite sides of the gate.
