Abstract: De-magnetization protection is provided for electro-permanent magnets during information handling system manufacture and use by monitoring thermal conditions at the information handling systems to detect a thermal state associated with de-magnetization and commanding the electro-permanent magnets to an off state so that both magnets in the electro-permanent magnet have opposing polarities. The opposing polarities tend to stabilize magnet polarity to prevent de-magnetization during increased temperatures. Normal operations are then re-enabled once temperatures decrease.

Abstract: A portable information handling system housing rotationally couples first and second housing portions with a hinge assembly having a minor axis that moves relative to a main axis to define a spacing between the housing portions. A main bracket couples to the first housing portion and rotationally couples through first and second telescoping members with first and second secondary brackets disposed at opposing sides of the main bracket and coupled to the second housing portion. The telescoping members synchronize through a linkage of the main bracket to adjust the distance between the minor and main axes for 360 degrees of rotation and adapting to an object located between the housing portions when the housing portions close.

Abstract: A portable information handling system keyboard includes plural keys that each have a programmable variable-feel response to an end user experience with key interactions in real time. In one example embodiment, a magnetic-rheological fluid is disposed in a chamber of the key to pass through openings formed in a piston that moves downward with a keypress and upward in response to a biasing mechanism, such as a spring disposed in the chamber. Current applied to a coil around the chamber creates a magnetic field that varies the viscosity of the fluid so that key compression and range of motion associated with an input as well as key movement to a raised position are programmable to adjust based upon a sensed key position and movement.
