摘要： An apparatus for transporting a mass flow of rod-shaped articles of the tobacco processing industry from a first station to a remote second station has two coaxial upright helical tracks one of which extends from the first station and the other of which extends from and is at least close to the second station. One or more endless chain or belt conveyors are provided to advance the articles of the mass flow along an elongated path which is defined in part by the first and in part by the second track. The apparatus can be used as a variable-capacity first-in first-out reservoir for rod-shaped articles due to the provision of one or two bridges. If the apparatus employs a single bridge and first and second conveyors, the bridge carries a first conveying device which receives articles from the first conveyor serving to accept articles at the first station, and a second conveying device which receives articles from the first conveying device and transfers the thus received articles onto the second conveyor. If the apparatus employs a single conveyor and two bridges, the single conveyor extends along a portion of the one track, along one of the bridges to the other track, along the other track to the other bridge, along the other bridge on to the one track and back to the first station. The bridge or bridges are movable axially of as well as angularly about the common axis of the tracks.

摘要： A chain conveyor for the transport of mass flows of cigarettes or other rod-shaped commodities has a series of identical links which are articulately connected to each other by alternating vertical and horizontal chain pins. The upper portions of the vertical pins carry platforms having supporting surfaces for the commodities, and each vertical pin further carries roller followers serving to track vertically spaced-apart portions of a guide surface which can have one or more non-linear portions, such as convex portions. The leading and trailing portions of successive platforms are interdigitated in such a way that the supporting surfaces of neighboring platforms can be inclined relative to each other as well as that the supporting surfaces of neighboring platforms can turn relative to each other about the axes of the respective vertical pins. Portions of the horizontal pins can extend into a channel between the vertically spaced-apart portions of the guide surface.

摘要： A unit which serves to fill trays with surplus cigarettes adjacent the path of movement of a mass flow of cigarettes from a maker to a processing machine is disposed at a level beneath a unit which empties the contents of filled trays into the mass flow when the requirements of the processing machine exceed the output of the maker. Each unit stores empty trays at an upper level and filled trays at a lower level. The two units are adjacent a device which serves to transfer trays between the storeys as well as between the two units on the one hand and a reservoir for additional empty and filled trays on the other hand. The tray transferring device has two superimpoosed tray holders which are indexible by a turret about a vertical axis, which can be turned about a second axis relative to the turret, which can be moved up and down along the turret, and which can be tilted relative to horizontal axes to change the inclination of trays and to thus prevent stacked cigarettes from falling out of filled trays during transport of such trays with the respective holders.

摘要： Cigarettes or other rod-shaped articles of the tobacco processing industry are transported sideways from a source along an elongated horizontal path into at least one downwardly extending second path. If the inlet of a second path is to be sealed from the adjacent outlet portion of the horizontal path, a partition is moved across the inlet in the general direction of advancement of articles along the first path. The partition includes a carrier which is reciprocable along a slightly upwardly and forwardly inclined track, and a flexible belt which is tensioned by one or more springs and is trained over the leader of the carrier. A variable-capacity reservoir is located above the horizontal path opposite the inlet of each second path to accept some of the articles which are being moved back into the first path in response to movement of the partition across the inlet of the adjacent second path. A rotary member is installed adjacent the leader of the partition when the latter seals the inlet of the corresponding second path to thus further reduce the likelihood of damage to articles as a result of movement of the partition from its retracted position across the inlet of the respective second path.
