摘要： A cigarette packet of a laminated sheeting is disclosed which comprises an outer, thermally-bonded weldable layer, and wherein the end flaps of the blank forming the packet are joined to each other and project beyond the end sides. The end flaps are folded in such a way that an inner, longitudinal end flap bears on the packet contents, and two side end flaps are folded on this longitudinal end flap, and a second outer longitudinal end flap on the side of the first inner longitudinal end flap. The particular improvement disclosed utilizes a laminated foil having on both sides an outer thermally bondable layer, which extends over the entire end face of the layer and along an edge turned toward the edge of the inner longitudinal end flap. The side end flaps are joined at their diagonals along a welding strip which extends on a diagonal fold line adjoining the weld strip which extends along the length of the end face.

摘要： A device for printing stock standing on one edge, in particular a piece of mail in a postage meter and/or addressing machine, includes a guide plate for the stock which is inclined relative to the vertical and has a recessed region for a printing device. A rotating conveyor has a conveying plane which extends orthogonal to the guide plate and on which the stock stands on one edge and is transported in one direction while resting against the guide plate. The recessed region includes at least one cutout and a region of the guide plate downstream of the cutout is so far recessed from a bearing surface for the stock that there is no contact with the latter in this location. This ensures sufficient penetration time for the ink and prevents smearing of the printed image. The printing device is an ink jet printing device which is stationary during printing and which has a nozzle plane that extends parallel to the guide plate. The guide plate is inclined a maximum of 45.degree. from vertical. The conveyor runs continuously. This structure simplifies transport of the piece of mail, improves the printing technology and ensures a clean printed image at high throughput.

摘要： A guard device for a postage meter, in particular protects an operator upon reaching into a mail feed mechanism for feeding letters that are inclined slightly to the rear and stand on one edge in a guide gap. The mail feed mechanism includes a revolving conveyor belt and contact-pressure elements secured thereto. Covering hoods are provided in a lateral deflection region of the conveyor belt. The risk to the operator is prevented even upon using the postage meter incorrectly by providing a side wall part of the covering hood in an exit region from the guide gap. The side wall part is easily released with the force of a finger and is coupled with a safety switch that short-circuits a motor which drives the conveyor belt if the side wall part is removed. A finger that becomes caught is thus released and the conveyor belt is stopped in an accelerated manner because of the effect of counter-inductance.
