The ground device includes an anchor member anchored to the upper surface of the boss and an elastic member fixed to the bottom surface of the anchor member. The elastic member extends downwardly through a bore in the boss, and a ground member is fixed to tile lower end of the elastic member. The ground member is in elastic contact with an outer race of an upper bearing. Accordingly, the assembly and the disassembly operations of the components of the ground device become simpler and easier, thereby increasing the productivity and enhancing the service operation efficiency thereof.

A resilient body, such as a compressed coil spring, is disposed between a lower bearing disposed between the rotary drum and the shaft and a stationary drum. The resilient body upwardly presses the inner race of the lower bearing, thereby applying a preload. A method for assembling a head-drum assembly for a magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus is provided. The head-drum assembly is assembled by inserting a shaft to a fixed drum first, setting up a motor stator in the fixed drum, and putting a rotary drum assembly and drum cover assembly into the shaft sequentially. The method can reduce the number of part to be abandoned due to a defect caused in the assembly process by performing a process of assembling the shaft and the fixed drum first, an area in which most defects are caused, and then proceeding to the subsequent assembly processes.
