    摘要: A method for selecting a relay mode depending on channel status of relay links in a multihop relay broadband wireless communication system and a Relay Station (RS) apparatus for supporting the method. When signals are received from a Base Station (BS) and a Mobile Station (MS), channel status values (e.g., eigenvalue, mutual information, and probability error) of relay links (BS-RS link and RS-MS link) are estimated using the received signals. The estimated channel status values are compared with a preset reference value. According to a result of the comparison, the relay mode for relaying the received signals is selected. Accordingly, the reliability of the relayed signal can be enhanced and the capacity of the signal link can be increased.

    摘要: A method for selecting a relay mode depending on channel status of relay links in a multihop relay broadband wireless communication system and a Relay Station (RS) apparatus for supporting the method. When signals are received from a Base Station (BS) and a Mobile Station (MS), channel status values (e.g., eigenvalue, mutual information, and probability error) of relay links (BS-RS link and RS-MS link) are estimated using the received signals. The estimated channel status values are compared with a preset reference value. According to a result of the comparison, the relay mode for relaying the received signals is selected. Accordingly, the reliability of the relayed signal can be enhanced and the capacity of the signal link can be increased.

    摘要: Provided are an apparatus and method for transmitting data using an Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC) scheme in a mobile communication system with a Relay Station (RS). A relay indicator value is received indicating a strength of a downlink signal transmitted to a destination through a relay path including the RS and a direct indicator value indicating a strength of an downlink signal directly transmitted to the destination via a direct path without passing through the RS. Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) levels are determined using the relay and direct indicator values for both the relay and direct paths. Bandwidth efficiencies are found in correspondence with the MCS levels and are compared depending on whether the relay path or the direct path is used. A path resulting in a higher bandwidth efficiency is selected to generate a data frame having a structure corresponding to the selected path. The data frame is transmitted to the destination or the RS.

    摘要: Provided is an apparatus and method for performing an ARQ operation for a uplink (UL) signal in a multi-hop relay cellular network. Upon receipt of a UL signal from a mobile station (MS), it is determined if there is an error in the received UL signal. If there is an error in the received UL signal, the channel condition for a relay station (RS) is compared with the channel condition for the MS. If the channel condition for the RS is better than the channel condition for the MS, it is determined if the RS knows the erroneously received UL signal. If the RS knows the erroneously received UL signal, the RS is requested to retransmit the erroneously received UL signal.
