摘要: A method and apparatus for transmitting network traffic includes selecting a major node in a major ring, where the major node corresponds to a first transmission opportunity encoded in the major ring. The major node specifies a minor node in a minor ring representing a virtual port. The method and apparatus also includes transmitting network traffic to a virtual connection that uses the virtual port. Alternatively, transmitting network traffic involves processing a schedule that includes a sequence of transmission opportunities encoded in a schedule ring and satisfying a minimum data rate for a scheduled virtual connection by processing a corresponding first minimum number of transmission opportunities from the schedule, each such transmission opportunity allocated by a schedule node to the scheduled virtual connection, where the schedule node is included in the schedule ring.

摘要: The accelerometer comprises a substrate (52), a metallic movable plate (50), and a mounting system (54) for mounting the movable plate such that it is positioned above the substrate and can rotate about a flexure axis (64) that is above and is substantially parallel to the substrate. The flexure axis divides the sensing element into first (66) and second (68) sections. The total moments of the first and second sections about the flexure axis are different, such that acceleration normal to the substrate tends to rotate the sensing element about the flexure axis. A first electrode (74) is mounted by the substrate adjacent the first section to form a first capacitor (C.sub.A), and a second electrode (76) is mounted by the substrate adjacent the second section to form a second capacitor (C.sub.B). A detector for measuring the relative capacitances of the first and second capacitors is provided comprising an integrator (166), an inverting amplifier (168), and switches (160, 162, 164) for periodically charging and discharging the capacitors in response to a clock signal. In one embodiment, the sensing element includes an internal opening (16, 56, 126) and the mounting system is positioned within the opening and includes a pedestal mounted to the substrate, and torsion bars (20, 22, 118, 120) and/or a beam (60, 114) connecting the pedestal to the sensing element. The sensing element preferably comprises a metallic plate, and the substrate preferably comprises a semiconductor upon which the detector and electrodes are fabricated in a single step process requiring no final assembly of components. In an embodiment adapted for high g applications, a pedestal (146) divides a plate member into first (148) and second (150) cantilevered beams that flex in the same direction in response to a given acceleration.

摘要: A thin film bridge initiator is mounted on a header for use in a detonator where a primer is activated by heat from the thin film. The initiator includes a substrate which carries a pair of metallic beam-type leads connected by a thin film bridge which activates the adjacent primer. The beam-type leads are affixed (welded) to a pair of electrical pins which are on adjacent sides of a slot in the header. The entire structure is very cost effective, reliable and provides fast functioning and safety. In addition, a process of manufacturing several bridge initiators at one time on a single wafer is provided.

摘要: The present invention is an improved facility for training personnel for aircraft carrier flight operations. The invention provides a solution to problems caused by flight training operations in populated areas. The invention provides an aircraft carrier simulator that includes a land-based full scale flight deck. The simulator includes apparatus for moving the deck to simulate the motion of a carrier in the ocean. The deck may be moved up and down and rotated to simulate the pitching and rolling motion of a carrier floating in the ocean. The deck may also be rotated 360.degree. about its vertical centerline so that flight operations may be conducted at any desired angle to the wind. The simulator is capable of providing all training for pilots and aircraft crews and deck training for fire, crash, battle station, flight mechanics, flight, R&D AIMD, fuel and LOX crews. The simulator also can provide training for ship crew personnel for radio communications, radar, guidance, ordnance, engineers, mess, command and control, and surgical and medical teams.
