    摘要: A novel polymeric pressure-sensitive adhesive formulation is provided comprised of a balanced hydrophilic/hydrophobic base polymer compounded with at least one water-soluble tackifying component. Upon contact of the pressure-sensitive adhesive with excess amounts of water, the water-soluble tackifying component is caused to separate from the base polymer, thus decreasing the ability of the base polymer to function as a pressure-sensitive adhesive. The adhesive may subsequently be easily removed from any substrate to which it has been applied.

    摘要: A drug flux enhancer-tolerant pressure sensitive adhesive composition is provided comprised of a mixture of (1) a percutaneous penetration enhancer to increase permeability of skin to transdermally administered pharmacologically active agents and (2) a macromer reinforced base polymer, said base polymer comprising a phase separated graft copolymer composition comprised of copolymerized monomers A and B to form a backbone polymer having polymeric moieties grafted thereto, wherein monomer A is a monomeric acrylic or methacrylic ester of a non-tertiary alcohol having from 1 to 14 carbon atoms, with the average number of carbon atoms being in the range of about 4 to 12, and a monomer B is a polar monomer which is copolymerizable with monomer A.

    摘要: A tubular elastic sheath for a condom catheter, the sheath taking the form of a thin, flexible, cylindrical member of elastic material having inner and outer surfaces and being rolled outwardly upon itself to form a torus having successively larger turns. A thin, flexible, multi-layered tape is interposed between successive turns of the rolled torus with such layers, all adhering to each other and to the catheter member, comprising a first adhesive layer, a second adhesive layer, and a highly-stretchable elastomeric layer disposed between the first and second adhesive layers. The first adhesive layer adheres to the inner surface of the catheter member and the second adhesive layer adheres to the outer surface of that member, and the relationship is such that the elastomeric layer adheres more securely to the second adhesive layer than to the first adhesive layer, and the first adhesive layer has less affinity for the elastomeric layer than each of the adhesive layers has for the surfaces of the catheter member. As a result, when the sheath is unrolled, the tape undergoes delamination with the first adhesive layer remaining upon the sheath's inner surface and the second adhesive layer, covered by the elastomeric layer, remaining on the sheath's outer surface.

    摘要: The present invention describes a pressure-sensitive hydrophilic laminate composite comprising contiguous layers of a tacky pressure sensitive hydrophilic polymer blend, and a non-tacky hydrophilic polymer blend. Numerous variations in individual layer formulations allow for a multitude of hydrophilic blend laminate composite structures, which are readily utilizable as wound dressings, and/or transdermal and topical delivery systems incorporating a wide range of bioactive agents. The hydrophilic laminate composite structurese are characterized by ease of application, adhesiveness to skin, high tensile strength, mechanical integrity, transparency, fluid absorbency, and highly effective bacterial barrier properties, and permeability to water vapor, oxygen and drugs and/or bioactive agents. In the preferred embodiments, they are further characterized in their ability to inhibit severe maceration of the wound as well as underlying tissue destruction upon removal.
