    摘要: A method for East/West stationkeeping of a geostationary satellite maintains the osculating value of longitude from exceeding a specified deadband for a specified drift period between maneuvers. In the planning, the mean longitude, the mean drift rate and the mean eccentricity vector are calculated and then maneuvers are executed to maintain the values below a magnitude such that the osculating longitude will be within the specified deadband over a specified drift period. The target conditions are achieved through a plurality of maneuvers which initiate a period of free drift which lasts for a specified number of days. During the free-drift period, longitude remains within its deadband, and no additional maneuvers are needed or are performed. The method has the advantage that it can take into account limitations on thruster on-time by allowing for a generalized number of stationkeeping maneuvers.

    摘要: An article made of a nickel-base superalloy having a nil-ductility range from the solidus temperature of the alloy to about 600.degree. F. below the solidus temperature is welded, as for example in the weld repair of surface cracks, by removing foreign matter from the area to be welded, first stress relieving the article, adjusting the temperature of the article to a welding temperature of from about 1800.degree. F. to about 2100.degree. F., welding a preselected area in an inert atmosphere at the welding temperature, and second stress relieving the article. Welding is preferably accomplished by striking an arc in the preselected area so as to locally melt the alloy in the preselected area, providing a filler metal having the same composition as the nickel-based superalloy of the article, and feeding the filler metal into the arc so that the filler metal is melted and fused with the article to form a weldment upon solidification.

    摘要: A gamma titanium aluminide alloy article is produced from a piece of cast gamma titanium aluminide alloy by consolidating the gamma titanium aluminide alloy piece at a temperature above the eutectoid to reduce porosity therein, preferably by hot isostatic pressing. The piece is first heat treated at a temperature above the eutectoid for a time sufficient to form a structure of gamma grains plus lamellar colonies of alpha and gamma phases, and thereafter second heat treated at a temperature below the eutectoid to grow gamma grains within the colony structure, thereby reducing the effective grain size of the colony structure. There may follow an additional heat treatment just below the alpha transus to reform any remaining colony structure to produce a structure having isolated alpha-two laths within gamma grains.
