An antenna structure of a mobile terminal includes a whip antenna, a helical antenna mounted to the mobile terminal and pierced with the whip antenna in a lengthwise direction thereof, a bushing for fixing the helical antenna to the mobile terminal and connecting the helical antenna or the whip antenna to a radio frequency (RF) block, a projection for stopping extension of the whip antenna, a driving motor for generating a driving force to retract/extend the whip antenna according to a specified control signal, and rollers for transmitting torque generated from the driving motor to the whip antenna to be retracted/extended. The whip antenna includes: a non-conducting upper portion disposed at a position of the helical antenna when the whip antenna is retracted; an intermediate portion including a conducting wire isolated with an insulating material of a predetermined thickness, and a conducting connection having a predetermined width to be coupled to the bushing when the whip antenna is extended; and a non-conducting lower portion having the projection at the lower end thereof, wherein the upper portion, the intermediate portion and the lower portion are equal in diameter.

The helical antenna includes first and second helical portions having first and second pitches, respectively and the first and second helical portions are operable at different frequency bands independently. The whip antenna includes a conductive core line, a conductive substance covering a first portion of the conductive core line to serve as a choke and an isolation element extending from an upper end of the conductive core line, for filling a gap between the conductive core line and the conductive substance. Here, only the first portion of the conductive core line is operable at a first frequency band and the entire conductive core line is operable at a second frequency. A fixing element fixes the helical antenna and the whip antenna to the radio terminal. The fixing element has an upper end connected to a lower end of the helical antenna and a through hold via which the whip antenna is inserted into an interior of the radio terminal.

Disclosed is an apparatus in a diversity system of a mobile terminal having a main receiving unit and a sub-receiving unit, which includes a sub-antenna for receiving an input signal and a part of a transmitted signal of a transmitting unit, a band-pass filter (BPF) designed to greatly attenuate a low-band frequency of the part of the transmitted signal received through the sub-antenna, a high-pass filter (HPF) for additionally attenuating the part of the transmitted signal attenuated through the BPF, a low-noise amplifier for minimizing a noise of an output value of the HPF, an HPF for passing therethrough only a high-frequency component of an output value of the low-noise amplifier, and a mixer for mixing output values of the HPF and outputting a baseband signal. One of two BPFs in the sub-receiving unit is replaced by one HPF, and thus the HPF can be fabricated on chip with the terminal receiving unit. Additionally, through the on-chip HPF, the use of an additional BPF is eliminated, and the size and the unit price of production of the mobile terminal can also be reduced.
