摘要: This is directed to a liquid vaporization process for depositing an oleophobic ingredient on a surface of an electronic device component using a PVD process. A raw liquid material that includes the oleophobic ingredient can be placed in a liquid supply system coupled to a vacuum chamber. The liquid supply system can be pressured by an inert gas to prevent undesired chemical reactions between the oleophobic ingredient and air. The liquid, including the oleophobic ingredient, can vaporize upon reaching the vaporizing unit, and the oleophobic ingredient can be deposited on the component.

摘要: Electronic devices and other apparatuses adapted to receive electromagnetic wave communications are disclosed. An outer housing encloses various device components, including at least an internal antenna located fully therewithin and adapted to receive/send communications from/to an outside source via RF or other electromagnetic waves. A ceramic coating can be a thermal spray coating that covers at least a portion of the outer surface proximate to the internal antenna, and can be “RF transparent”—adapted to allow communications to/from the internal antenna via electromagnetic waves. The outer housing can be plastic, metal or a combination thereof. For metal or other non-RF transparent housings, an RF-transparent insert can be fitted into a window in the housing to permit communications to the internal antenna. The ceramic coating covers some or all of the metal, plastic and/or insert that comprise the outer housing and surface for a final aesthetic finish to the device.

摘要: A primary outer housing component for an electronic device formed via a cold-drawing process is disclosed. The electronic device can include internal operational components located within an outer housing, as well as a processor and one or more user interfaces in communication therewith. A primary outer housing component substantially surrounds and protects the internal operational components and processor, and comprises a single, continuous and seamless structural wall having a cross-sectional profile that includes an outer circumference and an inner circumference, as well as openings at a top end and bottom end thereof. Top and bottom end closures fit within and close off the top and bottom end openings in the primary outer housing component, which is formed using a cold-drawing material process that includes the use of a die to form the shape of the outer circumference and a mandrel to form the shape of said inner circumference.

摘要: Co-extruded materials and methods for forming co-extruded materials that include images are disclosed. The method may include co-extruding two materials together to form a co-extruded workpiece. The first material may be a base material and the second material may be a graphic material used to form one or more images in a cross-section of the workpiece. One or more cross sectional parts that include the one or more images may then be generated by cutting, slicing or otherwise forming cross-sectional parts from the workpiece.

摘要: Devices and methods for assembling a connector are provided herein. In one aspect, an example method of assembly includes positioning an insert frame having an applicator portion supporting electrode contacts within an enclosure; attaching the electrode contacts to a circuit board substrate within the enclosure; forming an underfill layer by injecting a hardenable fluid medium through the applicator portion to fill a semi-confined space between the insert frame and the circuit board substrate; and detaching the applicator portion and applying an overmold. The applicator portion includes one or more lumens extending from an inlet opening to one or more exit openings to facilitate flow of fluid medium to desired locations. The inlet opening may be disposed on a portion of the applicator extending above the insert frame and have a diameter substantially larger than the exit opening to allow for fluid injection using an oversized injection nozzle.

摘要: A retention latch mechanism having corresponding retention features and stress reducing members is provided herein. In an example embodiment, the retention latch mechanism comprises a pair of spring arm retention features of a receptacle engageable with a corresponding pair of recessed retention features of an insertable tab and one or more backup spring members for reducing stress within the spring arms during insertion of the tab into the receptacle. The backup spring is positioned adjacent an outward facing surface such that outward lateral deflection of the spring arms deflects the backup spring thereby reducing force within the spring arm. In some embodiments, the backup spring includes any or all of a bent portion of an associated bracket or arm member, a wire, a loop, a complementary spring arm, dual backup springs, elastomeric members and self-lubricating members. Methods of providing retention of a tab within a receptacle are also provided herein.

摘要: A visual display having microperforations, backlighting and contrasting surface finishes is disclosed. The visual display includes an opaque base object having a front surface and a plurality of microperforations therethrough from the front surface to a back surface. Each microperforation has a diameter of about 100 microns or less, and numerous microperforations are arranged into an overall pattern, such as a logo, text or advertisement. A light source placed proximate to the back surface passes light through the microperforations to be visible at the front surface, such that the overall pattern can be visibly perceived when the light source is turned on. A contrasting surface finish formed on the front surface includes at least two visibly distinguishable shades, with one shade covering at least a portion of the front surface defined by the overall pattern, such that the overall pattern can be seen when the light source is turned off.
