摘要:
A method and system for handling hazardous materials contained in a vial includes an isolation enclosure having an opening selectively sealable about the vial, a bag body portion, and a cap portion. A latching extraction element is attached to the cap portion and has a preceding engaging member to secure the vial to the isolation enclosure, an extraction member to be inserted into the vial and remove material therefrom, and a primary engaging member to secure the vial to the extraction member. A valve is mounted outside the isolation enclosure and controls the flow of fluid from the vial. An adaptor having a reseal member permits flow when coupled to the valve and restricts flow when uncoupled from the valve. Once uncoupled, the adaptor is removably associated with a second valve located remotely from the isolation enclosure, allowing fluid to pass into the second valve.

A syringe may include various forms of a releasable stop adapted to selectively limit the travel of the syringe plunger within the syringe barrel such that a first amount of therapeutic substance may be discharged from the syringe while a residual supply of the therapeutic substance remains in the syringe. Movement of the plunger is permitted to displace the residual supply of fluid from the barrel. Syringes according to the invention find particular application as diluent syringes in a wet/dry drug delivery syringe system having two cooperating syringe barrels in which the residual supply of diluent in the diluent syringe may be used to flush additional and otherwise wasted drug from a drug syringe barrel.
摘要:
The invention described herein is a surgical cement preparation system designed for the rapid, clean, safe, accurate and thorough handling and combining of cement ingredients. The invention is particularly useful in the preparation of surgical cements such as opacified polymethylmethacrylate to ensure their thorough mixture and presentation in advance of the cured or hardened state. The invention provides a surgical cement preparation system for combining a liquid ingredient together with at least one solid powder ingredient comprising a needle and syringe assembly and a mixing vial structured to optimize their relative functions and cooperatively interact with other components. The invention further provides a process for preparing surgical cement comprising the system of the invention, as well as a kit comprising the system of the invention in combination with additional components.
