    摘要: The invention is a method for enhancing and restoring the friction reduction effectiveness of a lubricating oil comprising adding to the lubricating oil a trinuclear molybdenum sulfur compound selected from the group of trinuclear molybdenum compounds preferably those having the formulas Mo.sub.3 S.sub.7 (dtc).sub.4 and Mo.sub.3 S.sub.4 (dtc).sub.4 and mixtures thereof wherein dtc represents independently selected diorganodithiocarbamate ligands containing independently selected organo groups and wherein the ligands have a sufficient number of carbon atoms among all the organo groups of the compound's ligands are present to render the compound soluble or dispersible in the lubricating oil. The oil may be a fresh or used oil. Concentrates of the composition are also included in the invention.

    摘要: The present invention is directed to a method for improving the performance of a sooted diesel oil and controlling soot induced viscosity increase by adding to a major amount of a diesel oil a minor amount of a composition comprising at least one compound having the formula Mo.sub.3 S.sub.k L.sub.n Q.sub.z and mixtures thereof wherein the L are independently selected ligands having organo groups with a sufficient number of carbon atoms to render the compound soluble or dispersible in the oil, n is from 1 to 4, k varies from 4 through 10, Q is selected from the group of neutral electron donating compounds such as water, amines, alcohols, phosphines, and ethers, and z ranges from 0 to 5 and includes nonstoichiometric values.

    摘要: A novel scheme for olefin recovery/separation based on the redox properties of metal dithiolene complexes is described. The complex, [1,2-bis(cyano)ethylene-1,2-dithiolato]nickel, [Ni(S2C2(CN)2)2], when generated electrochemically, binds olefin to form an adduct. The olefin is released when the olefin adduct is reduced electrochemically. The reduced form of the metal dithiolene complex can then be re-oxidized to complete the cycle. For olefins such as 1-hexene, propylene, and ethylene, fast olefin binding and release is observed when modulated electrochemically. Olefin binding/release rates are fast as compared to the electrochemistry experiment (second or sub-second time-scale).

    摘要: The present invention is related to a method for oligomerizing olefinic monomers under oligomerization conditions to form higher olefins. The novel method comprises contacting a feed comprising the olefinic monomers with a catalyst composition comprising the reaction product of: (a) a compound having a formula selected from the group consisting of M[S2C2(RaRb)]2 and M[S2C6(R1R2R3R4)]2, wherein M is a late transition metal, Ra, Rb, R1, R2, R3 and R4 are independently selected and may be the same or different and are selected from hydrogen, electron-withdrawing groups and unsubstituted and substituted hydrocarbyl groups; and (b) an activating cocatalyst. The improved method advantageously relates to oligomerizing olefinic monomers from feed streams having contaminants, especially sulfur-containing contaminants.

    摘要: Enhanced synthesis of transition metal dithiolene complexes is described. [1,2-bis(Trifluoromethyl)ethylene-1,2-dithiolato]nickel selectively and reversibly binds olefins (C.sub.2 to C.sub.6). Under the same conditions, the complex does not react with H.sub.2 O, C.sub.2 H.sub.2, CO, and H.sub.2, and only slowly reacts with H.sub.2 S at high concentrations. The compositions are useful for selective removal and recovery of olefins from process streams containing contaminants such as CO and H.sub.2 S.
