    摘要: An electrostatic discharge conductor to shell continuity system is disclosed for an electrical connector. The connector (20, 120) has a dielectric housing (24) with a recess (68, 74) for receiving an electrostatic discharge conductor (70). The electrostatic discharge conductor (70) extends along a forward face of the housing (24) and extends into the recess. The portion of the electrostatic discharge conductor extending into the recess (74) engages a surface of an electrically conductive shell (44, 144) securable to the housing (24), thereby providing electrical continuity between the shell (44, 144) and the electrostatic discharge conductor (70).

    摘要: Mating plug and receptacle connectors each include electrically insulating housings and plural rows of electrical terminals. The plug connector includes two terminal supporting walls or platforms extending outwardly from the housing with terminal contact portions positioned in channels on the terminal support platforms. Each platform includes at an end thereof a groove which receives a grounding strip in the form of a drain wire, commoned to an outer shielding shell. The receptacle connector has an insulating housing having two elongate slots thereacross, adapted for receiving the terminal support walls of the plug connector, and receptacle contacts for mating engagement with the plug connector terminals. The receptacle housing includes a groove in the front face carrying a grounding strip commoned to an outer shielding shell. The plug and receptacle are matable with their respective shielding shells in mating contact with each other.

    摘要: A daisy chain connector (10) and method of using the connector (10) are disclosed. The connector has a housing having contacts (16) secured therein. A pair of terminating covers (56,58) are provided for applying termination force to conductors (48) of a multiconductor round or flat cable (46). The conductors (48) are formed into two loops with the connector therebetween. A terminating cover (56,58) is positioned in each loop (52,54), the conductors are positioned relative to the covers (56,58) then the covers (56,58) are pressed toward each other terminating the conductors to insulation displacement portions of the contacts (16) and simultaneously securing the covers (56,58) to the connector housing (20).

    摘要: An electricl connector (1) for mounting on a circuit board includes a housing (2) having a pair of spaced, rudimentary bottom walls (30) each having a bottom surface (31) for engaging against the circuit board. Each bottom wall (30) has formed therein, a through bore (39) opening into the bottom face (31) and also opening upwardly. A hollow board lock supported in each of the bores (39) has locking legs (37) projecting below the bottom face of the respective bottom wall (30) for insertion in a hole (H2) in a circuit board. The housing (2) has therein a header (8) carrying electrical terminals (64,66,68,70) having terminal legs (76) projecting rearwardly from the header (8) and terminating in soldering tails (78) depending below the housing for insertion in further holes (H1) in the circuit board when the bottom faces (31) of the bottom walls (30) are engaged with the circuit board. A metal shield (18) covering the terminal legs (76 ) has, projecting from opposite side walls (80) of the shield (18) grounding tabs (100) which extend through respective board locks (41) and between their locking legs (76). When the connector (1) is mounted on the circuit board the soldering tails (78) are soldered to signal conductors on the board and the legs (76) of the board locks (41) are soldered to grounding conductors on the board. The grounding tabs (100) are accordingly soldered to the grounding conductors at the same time as the locking legs (37).
