    摘要: An improved dressing for the fiber optic leads of a fiber optic gyroscope sensing coil and method for forming the same. A pair of fiber optic leads connect the sensing coil of a rotation sensing device to an integrated optics chip. The fiber optic leads are originally arranged to extend around the fiber optic sensing coil in different directions. The leads are formed of unequal lengths, where the longer of the leads is extended along an outer circumference of the sensing coil. The longer lead is bent so that the circumferential direction of longer lead reverses itself, and the longer lead then extends around the sensing coil in the same direction as the shorter lead. A low modulus adhesive is applied to the leads and cured to initially bond the leads in place against the sensing coil. The pair of leads are then wound in the same circumferential direction adjacent to each other fashion around the outer circumference of the sensing coil. After the desired amount of winding has been completed, a predetermined length of each of the leads is left available to be routed to the rotation sensing device. The entire outer surface of the wound fiber optic leads surrounding the temporary adhesion is then coated with a low modulus adhesive and cured to bond the wound leads against the sensing coil structure.

    摘要: An articulated linkage is disclosed for supporting waveguide and electrical cabling through a predetermined range of movement. The linkage comprises a plurality of elongated rigid sections, joined by articulated joint sections. The joints comprise at least two short links which are pivotably connected to each other and the adjacent rigid sections. Travel limit pins are provided to limit the pivoting motion of the joint links relative to each other and the rigid sections. The lines of waveguide comprise respective sections of flexible waveguide passing through the flexible joints of the linkage and are connected to elongated sections of rigid waveguide which are supported by the rigid sections of the linkage. The travel limits on joint movement are selected to limit the angular excursions to protect the flexible waveguide from undue stresses during movement of the linkage. The linkage allows continuous connection of the waveguide and cabling throughout the raising and lowering of an antenna group or other microwave utilization device.

    摘要: A spool (12), for supporting a fiber optic coil (14) and a shield (118) surrounding the spool and fiber optic coil, includes a centrally placed, bolt-receiving opening (29). The shield includes a lower shield portion (20), which supports the spool and the fiber optic coil, and an upper shield portion (118). The upper and lower shield portions are arranged to interfit with each other at an interface (121). The upper shield portion has a centrally placed fastener-receiving opening (124) which is alignable with the centrally placed, bolt-receiving opening of the spool. A bolt (156) has a head (156a), a shank (156b) and a threaded end (156c, 156d). The bolt head is engageable with the spool through intermediary structure (48). The shank is insertable through the centrally placed, bolt-receiving opening (29) and the lower shield opening (26), for radially centering the assembly and its components. The threaded end is disposed to engage a threaded opening (68) in a gyroscope assembly support (66). A threaded, centrally placed opening (156e) is located in the bolt head. A screw (164) is couplable with the upper shield portion and screwable into the bolt head threaded opening for securing the upper shield portion both to the lower shield portion and to the bolt.
