    摘要: A method and apparatus for sending user plane traffic via a node located between a base station and a Serving Gateway in a mobile telecommunications network. The base station receives a message containing tunneling protocol information identifying the Serving Gateway. It sends a second message towards the node, the second message including tunneling protocol information identifying the base station and the Serving Gateway. The base station receives a third message from the node, the third message including tunneling protocol information for the base station to use towards the node, and tunneling protocol information for the Serving Gateway to use towards the node. A fourth message is sent, which includes tunneling protocol information for the Serving Gateway to use towards the node. User plane traffic can then be sent between the base station and the Serving Gateway via the node.

The solution involves the use of a request for an inter-RAT handover, where the request comprises a temporary identifier of a process associated with the UE of which a permanent identifier is to be derived. The access to a permanent UE identifier is enabled in a radio access network where such an identifier is not readily available. The solution does not require any changes to procedures or nodes in the core network.

    摘要: There is described a method for optimising the distribution of data objects between caches in a cache domain of a resource limited network. User requests for data objects are received at caches in the cache domain. A notification is sent from each cache at which a request is received to a cache manager. The notification reports the user request and identifies the requested data object. At the cache manager, object information including the request frequency of each requested data object and the locations of the caches at which the requests were received is collated and stored. At the cache manager, objects for distribution within the cache domain are identified on the basis of the object information. Instructions are sent from the cache manager to the caches to distribute data objects stored in those caches between themselves. The objects are classified into classes according to popularity, the classes including a high popularity class comprising objects which should be distributed to all caches in the cache domain, a medium popularity class comprising objects which should be distributed to a subset of the caches in the cache domain, and a low popularity class comprising objects which should not be distributed.
