摘要： A cleaning cassette has, at one longitudinal side, a cleaning element for cleaning a magnetic head of a magnetic tape recorder, and has a cleaning element at the opposite longitudinal side for cleaning a tape drive roller of the magnetic tape recorder. Dependent on the direction in which the cleaning cassette is introduced into the magnetic tape recorder, the one cleaning element comes into contact with the magnetic head, or the further cleaning element comes into contact with the tape drive roller, for the purpose of cleaning. The magnetic head is cleaned by a reciprocating motion of the cleaning element via an eccentric arrangement effected by the tape drive roller. The cleaning of the tape drive roller upon introduction of the cleaning cassette in an opposite direction occurs due to the rotational motion of the tape drive roller given a stationary, further cleaning element.

摘要： A tape drive has a microswitch, with a microswitch plunger, that interacts with a tape cartridge having a recess therein that is selectively closed or opened by a sliding element movable back and forth in the recess, to detect whether the recess is opened or closed and thus to enable or disenable a data transfer function between the tape drive and the tape cartridge. To protect the plunger against breakage, and to allow changing the position of the sliding element without interference by the plunger, the tape drive has a plunger protector pivotably mounted in that is interposed between the sliding element and the plunger. The plunger protector smoothly transfers forces associated with the back and forth movement of the sliding element to forces in the direction of movement of the plunger.

摘要： In known magnetic tape recorder devices for cassettes provided with a magnetic tape, the cassette is manually inserted into its final position. The ejection of the cassette ensues upon employment of a lever mechanism or of a spring that is tensed upon insertion of the cassette. In the magnetic tape recorder device of the invention, the cassette is only partially inserted or, respectively, ejected and the further, at least partial draw-in and ejection ensues upon employment of a motor-driven drive capstan that moves the magnetic tape in the cassette in the normal operating condition. The automatic draw-in and ejection of the cassette is possible in the magnetic tape recorder device wherein the drive capstan is laterally arranged.

摘要： In an exemplary embodiment a cassette provided with the magnetic tape is inserted in a longitudinal direction into an insertion channel. During and/or after the insertion of the cassette, a magnetic head carrier provided with a magnetic head is pivoted from an idle position into an operating position in which the magnetic head contacts the magnetic tape. The pivotal movement is effected by a lever linked to the magnetic head carrier. The lever is actuated by a connecting rod which is linked to a cover for closing the insertion channel. The movement of the lever by the connecting rod ensues via a rotatably mounted swivel arm. When the cover for the insertion channel is opened, the magnetic head is pivoted back into its idle position and the cassette is simultaneously partially ejected from the magnetic tape recorder by the swivel arm.

摘要： A device for positioning a magnetic head into an operative position relative to a multi-track magnetic tape in a magnetic tape recorder. A magnetic head is disposed at one end of a magnetic head carrier while the opposite end of the head carrier is axially and laterally moveably mounted on a shaft attached to the tape recorder housing frame. A motor-driven worm gear engages a worm wheel mounted in an axially displaceable manner along the shaft. A spring mounted on the shaft urges the head carrier against the worm wheel so that upon rotation of the worm, the worm wheel is displaced along the shaft and moves the magnetic head perpendicularly to the running direction of the magnetic tape. A stop member is positioned adjacent the head carrier to prevent rotation of the head carrier during rotation of the worm wheel. In certain embodiments, the head carrier is pivotally mounted on the shaft in order to selectively pivot the magnetic head away from the operational working area thereof. The magnetic head carrier is seated in a bearing plate formed of a resilient material and on the shaft. After releasing the fastening of the bearing plate at one end thereof, the magnetic head and magnetic head carrier can be readily replaced by another magnetic head and carrier and precisely positioned by reattaching the bearing plate over the shaft.

摘要： A read/write head of a magnetic tape drive is provided, where the matrix write head is provided as a part of an overall flat structure that utilizes the atmospheric pressure to hold the tape against the operational surface of the write head. The read head portion is provided to enable reading of the data immediately after it is written. The present head structure permits writing and reading of written data in both tape travel directions. The matrix write head portions are on chips and wear parts are in the upstream direction with respect to the tape travel from the write head. The wear parts provide a shape edge over which the tape moves. The read head is either optical or magnetic and is between two portions of the write head.

摘要： In a drive system and a magnetic tape cartridge for use therewith, the magnetic tape cartridge contains a number of magnetic tapes, and the drive system contains at least a like number of read/write heads. The drive system includes a mechanism which is engageable with all of the magnetic tapes in the cartridge for simultaneously extracting all of the magnetic tapes from the cartridge and moving all of the magnetic tapes so that each tape engages with at least one of the read/write heads. Data can then be simultaneously transferred between the engaged tapes and read/write heads, so that the time needed to access data in a read mode, and the time needed to write data in a record mode, are correspondingly reduced by a multiple which is dependent on the number of tapes. All of the tapes are wound onto a single take-up reel.
