    Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable media for functional safety of computer networking systems implemented in vehicles. A functional safety system analyzes diagnostic data describing data packet transmissions in a vehicle networking system during a testing mode. The data packet transmissions include predetermined data packet sequences for testing a network feature of the vehicle networking system. The functional safety system determines, based on the diagnostic data, that the network feature of the vehicle networking system is not performing as expected, and generates a functional safety report indicating that the network feature of the vehicle networking system is not performing as expected. The functional safety report including at least a portion of the diagnostic data.

    Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable media for a segmented ECF that includes multiple filter components to replicate an echo pulse response. The different filter components are used to replicate different portions of the echo pulse response. Each filter components can include filter coefficients of different sizes based on the portions of the echo pulse response that is replicated by the filter component. For example, a filter component that replicates a portion of the echo pulse response that includes a large reflection can include large filter coefficients suitable to replicate the larger reflection. In contrast, a filter component that replicates a portion of the echo pulse response that includes smaller reflections can include smaller filter coefficients that are suitable to replicate the smaller reflection. The output of each of the filter components is combined to replicate the full echo pulse response.

    Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable media for a hybrid physical layer that supports data communications using both Ethernet and ASA. Ethernet and ASA are communication standards that are commonly used in automotive environments; however, are not interoperable. The hybrid physical layer supports data communications using both Ethernet and ASA. For example, the hybrid physical layer may be configured into either a first mode of operation to support data communications using Ethernet or a second mode of operation to support data communications using ASA. Devices utilizing the hybrid physical layer can therefore be used with other components that utilize either communication standard.

    Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable media for testing and characterization of computing systems implemented in vehicles. A testing system causes packet injectors in a vehicle networking system to execute a testing mode in which the packet injectors transmit synchronized sequences of data packets within the vehicle networking system. The testing system gathers, from logging mechanisms located within the vehicle networking system, diagnostic data describing data packet transmissions in the vehicle computer network during the testing mode. The diagnostic data includes data identifying data packets detected by the logging mechanisms and timestamps indicating times at which the data packets were detected by the logging mechanisms. The testing system generates, based on the diagnostic data and an expected diagnostic data, a testing report describing performance of the vehicle networking system during the testing mode.

    Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable media for efficient safety mechanism selection for achieving functional safety. A functional safety system automates the process of achieving a target diagnostic coverage level using recursive method to sequentially analyze each layer of a target environment and add additional safety mechanisms if a target diagnostic coverage level is not met. The functional safety system implements the additional safety mechanisms based on a ranking determined based on one or more selected parameters. The parameters may indicate a preference for achieving specified goals, such as higher efficiency, increased coverage, reduced cost, reduced area, and the like. The functional safety system adds the additional safety mechanisms based on the ranking, such as by adding the highest ranked safety mechanism, followed by subsequently ranked safety mechanism.

    Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable media for distributed processing in a vehicle networking system. A node in the vehicle networking system receives sets of processed sensor data from multiple nodes in the vehicle networking system. Each set of processed sensor data is generated using a first portion of a data processing algorithm on sensor data captured by different sets of sensors of the vehicle networking system. The node performs a second portion of the data processing algorithm based on the sets of processed sensor data received from multiple nodes, yielding a set of processed aggregated sensor data. The node may use the set of processed aggregated sensor data to provide a computer managed feature and/or transmit the set of processed aggregated sensor data to other nodes in the vehicle networking system.
