Abstract: Compositions comprising one or more amphiphilic compounds formed from vinylidene olefins may comprise: a reaction product of one or more vinylidene olefins, in which the reaction product comprises a hydrophobic portion and a hydrophilic portion comprising a polar head group bonded to the hydrophobic portion. The one or more vinylidene olefins each comprise a vinylidene group that undergoes a reaction to become saturated and to produce at least part of the hydrophobic portion.

Abstract: Elastomeric polyolefin-based ionomers and methods for making same. The ionomers can include a copolymer comprising: C2-C60 α-olefin monomer units; optional C2-C60 α-olefin comonomer units different than the monomer units; optional diene units; and about 0.1 wt % to about 20 wt % metal alkenyl units, based on the weight of the copolymer, wherein the metal alkenyl units have the formula —R(A−)—, wherein R is an alkyl group containing 2 to 10 carbon atoms, and A− is an anionic group. The copolymer can further include one or more metal cations derived from the group consisting of alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, group 3-12 metals, group 13-16 metals, and combination(s) thereof. The ionomer has a glass transition temperature of −60° C. to 5° C., and a weight average (Mw) of 50 to 5,000 kg/mol.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides borate or aluminate activators comprising cations having linear alkyl groups, catalyst systems comprising, and methods for polymerizing olefins using such activators. Specifically, the present disclosure provides activator compounds represented by Formula: [R1R2R3EH]d+[Mk+Qn]d−, wherein: E is nitrogen or phosphorous; d is 1, 2 or 3; k is 1, 2, or 3; n is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6; n−k=d; R1 is C1-C20 linear alkyl group; each of R2 and R3 is a C1-C40 linear alkyl group, a meta- and/or para-substituted phenyl group, an alkoxy group, a silyl group, a halogen, or a halogen containing group, wherein R1+R2+R3≥15 carbon atoms; M is an element selected from group 13, typically B or Al; and each Q is independently a hydride, bridged or unbridged dialkylamido, halide, alkoxide, aryloxide, hydrocarbyl, substituted hydrocarbyl, halocarbyl, substituted halocarbyl, or halosubstituted-hydrocarbyl radical, provided that when Q is a fluorophenyl group, then R2 is not a C1-C40 linear alkyl group.
