Compositions are provided that include a new Bacillus thuringiensis strain designated RTI545 for use in benefiting plant growth and controlling plant pests. In particular, the RTI545 strain is useful for controlling plant nematode, insect and fungal pests. The compositions include plant seeds coated with the RTI545 strain. The compositions can be applied alone or in combination with other microbial, biological, or chemical insecticides, fungicides, nematicides, bacteriocides, herbicides, plant extracts, plant growth regulators, or fertilizers. In one example, enhanced growth and insect control are provided by delivering at the time of planting a combination of a chemical insecticide such as bifenthrin and a liquid fertilizer to plants or seeds treated with RTI545.

The present application discloses method of controlling plant pathogen(s), e.g. fungal and bacterial pathogens, on a plant, wherein a composition comprising Bacillus amyloliquefaciens FCC1256 deposited as ATCC No. PTA-122162 is applied to the plant, in particular to over-ground parts of the plant. The composition may comprise iturin and fengycin in a relative weight ratio of 1.3:1.0 to 3.0:1.0. The application also discloses an agricultural composition comprising the novel strain, a carrier, a surface-active agent and optionally a buffer, and a corresponding concentrate.

Compositions and extracts of Bacillus licheniformis strains that include newly identified Fengycin-like and Dehydroxyfengycin-like cyclic lipopeptides designated as “Fengycin MB-Cit” and “Dehydroxyfengycin MB-Cit”, respectively, are also provided. In particular aspects, compositions containing the Bacillus licheniformis strain RTI184 can be applied alone or in combination with chemical agents or other microbial agents to benefit plant growth.

The compositions are useful for benefiting plant growth and/or conferring protection against a pathogenic infection when applied to plant foliage, flowers, fruits, bark, roots, seeds, callus tissue, grafts, cuttings, surrounding soil or growth medium, and soil or growth medium concomitant with sowing seed and planting callus tissue, grafts, and cuttings. The compositions containing the Bacillus velezensis RTI301 strain can be applied alone or in combination with other microbial, biological, or chemical insecticides, fungicides, nematicides, bacteriocides, herbicides, plant extracts, plant growth regulators, and fertilizers. In one example, the Bacillus velezensis RTI301 strain can be delivered to the plant as part of an integrated pest management program, with other microbial or chemical insecticides, fungicides, nematicides, bacteriocides, herbicides, plant extracts, and plant growth regulators.
