Abstract: A magnetic tape including a timing-based servo pattern, in which the magnetic tape is used in a magnetic tape device in which a total number of data tracks is 8705 or more in conversion of a magnetic tape having a width of ½ inches, and ΔPNL of the timing-based servo pattern is 10.0% or less of a track pitch. A magnetic tape cartridge including the magnetic tape, and a magnetic tape device including a magnetic tape, in which a total number of data tracks is 8705 or more in conversion of a magnetic tape having a width of ½ inches, the magnetic tape includes a timing-based servo pattern, and ΔPNL of the timing-based servo pattern is 10.0% or less of a track pitch are provided. The ΔPNL indicates an amount of deviation of the timing-based servo pattern from linearity.

Abstract: A processing device stores a result of reading a reference servo pattern by a servo reading element from a magnetic tape in which the reference servo pattern is recorded, in the storage medium as an ideal waveform signal indicating an ideal waveform, acquires a servo band signal which is a result of reading a servo pattern recorded in a servo band of the magnetic tape by the servo reading element, and detects a servo pattern signal which is a result of reading the servo pattern by the servo reading element by comparing the ideal waveform signal stored in the storage medium with the servo band signal. The magnetic tape has a data band. The reference servo pattern is recorded in the data band.

Abstract: A magnetic tape is provided in which the total thickness of a non-magnetic layer and a magnetic layer is equal to or smaller than 0.60 μm. The magnetic layer includes a timing-based servo pattern and also includes fatty acid ester. The full width at half maximum of spacing distribution measured by optical interferometry regarding the surface of the magnetic layer before performing vacuum heating with respect to the magnetic tape is greater than 0 nm and less than or equal to 7.0 nm, while the same value measured after performing the vacuum heating is also greater than 0 nm and less than or equal to 7.0 nm. Further, the difference between a spacing measured after performing the vacuum heating and a spacing measured before performing the vacuum heating is greater than 0 nm and equal to or smaller than 8.0 nm.

Abstract: A first straight line region and a second straight line region of the straight line region pair are inclined in opposite directions with respect to a first imaginary straight line. Abstract: A plurality of gap patterns are formed on a front surface of a substrate along a direction corresponding to a width direction of a magnetic tape.
