    摘要: A helicopter rotor blade that has a blade body and a control flap secured to the blade body. The rotor blade has a first primary mover capable of generating a first linear motion that is sufficient to generate a high amplitude, low frequency motion of the control flap; and a second primary mover capable of generating a second linear motion that is sufficient to generate a small amplitude, high frequency motion of the control flap. Further, the rotor blade has a coupling transmission for combining the first linear motion with the second linear motion that generates a cumulative linear motion; and a second transmission device that causes the cumulative linear motion to rotate the control flap.

    摘要: An exemplary electromagnetic coupling device includes an electromagnet and a vane member that is selectively magnetically coupled with the electromagnet. A non-magnetic slider layer is supported on one of the electromagnet or the vane member such that the slider layer is between the electromagnet and the vane member. The slider layer maintains a spacing between the electromagnet and the vane member. In a disclosed example, the electromagnetic coupling device is used for coupling an elevator car door to a hoistway door for moving the doors in unison between open and closed positions.

The pitch and/or shape of the airfoil at a first radial position may be configured, so that power extraction per mass flow rate at the first radial position is different than power extraction per mass flow rate at a second radial position. Thus, the power-extracting region may be advantageously configured to take advantage of a non-uniform flow profile across a rotor plane such as may be induced using a shrouded turbine.

    摘要: Example embodiments described herein relate an integral and/or multi-piece airfoil and a shrouded fluid turbine having the same. The airfoil can have a generally circumferential body extending circumferentially about a central axis, and can be referred to herein as a “ringed airfoil.” The airfoil can have a front portion defining a leading edge of the airfoil and a rear portion defining a trailing edge of the air foil. A cross-sectional thickness of the front portion can be non-uniform and vary along a mean camber line of the airfoil from the leading edge to a transition area. A cross-sectional thickness of the rear portion can be uniform and constant along the mean camber line of the airfoil from the transition area to the trailing edge of the airfoil.

    摘要: A two-axis solar tracker is capable of withstanding extreme weather conditions. The solar tracker includes a solar array, a frame, a base, a pivot frame, and a first and second actuator. The solar array is mounted to the frame and captures sunlight. The base is pivotally connected to the frame and defines a pivot axis for elevational movement of the solar array. The pivot frame is also pivotally connected to the frame and defines a pivot axis for azimuthal movement of the solar array. The first actuator controls elevational movement of the solar array and the second actuator controls azimuthal movement of the solar array. The solar tracker is pivotable between a raised position and a stowed position.
