摘要： A container system for the shipping and storing of product such as bananas, comprising: (a) a substantially rigid outer container having at least one ventilation opening; (b) a closable inner container positioned within the outer container receiving the product, the inner container having a bottom portion and a top portion; and (c) means attached to the top portion of the inner container for opening the inner container so as to provide increased ventilation to the product. The inner container preferably comprises a flexible bag having a sealed bottom as its bottom portion, an open top adjacent the top portion, and a perforation extending about at least a portion of the bag, so that the opening means opens the bag by severing the bag at the perforation. The opening means may comprise a cord attached to the top portion of the bag. A method of packing, shipping and storing product utilizing this container is provided. A method of ventilating and storing a plurality of stacked boxes using this container system is provided. A method of producing a container of banana clusters is also provided, wherein the banana clusters are placed into a container in a four row pattern with the two upper-most rows in a crowns-up configuration. Various cushioning pads for this packing pattern are also provided.

摘要： A method of producing a container of banana clusters is provided wherein a flexible inner container is inserted into an outer container prior to placing the banana clusters into the outer container, placing a first row of banana clusters in the inner container atop the interior bottom, placing a second row of banana clusters in the inner container such that a portion of the second row is positioned atop a portion of the first row, providing a tunnel pad having a width at least as great as the length of the sidewalls of the outer container and a length greater than the length of the endwalls of the outer container and positioning a portion of the tunnel pad atop and in contact with a portion of the banana clusters of the first and second rows, and placing a third and fourth row of banana clusters in the inner container atop a portion of and in contact with a portion of the tunnel pad. A method of transferring a load of bananas from the outer container to another outer container is also provided.

摘要： The present invention is directed to a system for thermoforming a batch of dental appliances simultaneously. An embodiment of the invention includes a vacuum plate having an upper surface and a plurality of cups for receiving dental models. A polymer sheet extends over the upper surface of the vacuum plate and over the cups. A heater cap that is movable in proximity to the cups is provided to heat the polymer sheet to be formed onto the dental models. The vacuum plate is configured to create a vacuum seal between an upper edge of the cups and the polymer sheet. A vacuum source is provided to apply a vacuum to the cups below the polymer sheet wherein the pressure contained in said cups is lower than atmospheric pressure whereby at least a portion of the polymer sheet is drawn into each of the cups and drawn over the dental models to form an aligner over each of the dental models. The invention includes the process of drawing a vacuum in a series of steps, or phases, to the cups below the polymer sheet to form the polymer effectively around the dental model.

摘要： There is provided a method of preparing a thermoplastic starch and synthetic polymer blend, said method comprising the steps of: (a) providing a starch suspension comprising starch, water and a plasticizer, preferably glycerol; (b) obtaining a thermoplastic starch from the starch suspension by causing gelatinization and plasticization of said starch suspension by exerting heat and pressure on said starch suspension in a first extrusion unit; (c) evaporating and venting off residual water from said thermoplastic starch to obtain a substantially moisture-free thermoplastic starch; (d) obtaining a melt of a synthetic polymer or polymer blend in a second extrusion unit; and (e) combining the melt obtained from step (d) with the substantially moisture-free thermoplastic starch. Also provided are compositions of matter comprising immiscible blends of thermoplastic starches, polymers, and compatibilizers.
