摘要:
A magnetically sensitive semiconductor having a plurality of individual magnetically sensitive areas is used to trigger a photoflash lamp in synchronization with shutter operation. A magnetic field is impressed on the individual magnetic areas in time sequense. One is selectively connected to trigger the lamp to provide a selectible time delay for flash operation.

Herein disclosed is an induction cooking range having a counter for supporting a food-containing vessel; the vessel being heated by an induction coil which is driven at ultrasonic, or higher, frequencies. A temperature sensing unit is employed which includes a temperature detection unit located proximate to the vessel and/or food therein and a temperature receiving unit which is remotely located from the temperature detection unit and vessel but operating, nevertheless, to receive radio frequency transmissions of temperature data from the temperature detection unit which is, in the first instance, powered by the main field produced by the induction coil. Also disclosed is a compact packaging arrangement of the various electronic components of the temperature detection unit.

Herein disclosed is an induction cooking/warming appliance wherein an induction coil is located below a vessel supporting means, such as a counter. The counter may have a passage therethrough for the transmission of light, or it may be a solid body of transparent or translucent material. A double-walled vessel for containing food to be cooked or warmed is provided. The vessel is supportable on the counter. An inner wall of the vessel is inductively heated by a main magnetic field produced by the induction coil; but, an outer wall of the vessel, which is in contact with the counter on which the vessel is supported, is not inductively heated. Moreover, the outer wall of the vessel transmits light. Included within the vessel between the two walls thereof is a temperature detection unit which includes a temperature sensor unit arranged for sensing the temperature of the inner wall of the vessel and means responsive to the magnetic field produced by the induction coil for energizing an LED to produce light pulses at a rate corresponding to the temperature sensed by said temperature sensor unit. These light pulses are transmitted through the outer wall of the vessel and either through the counter or through a passage in the counter to a temperature receiving unit which includes a photodetector which is instrumental in developing a signal representative of the temperature of interest. Various embodiments of the vessel and the components thereof are disclosed.

A cooking appliance for inductively heating a cooking utensil comprises a flat induction heating coil mounted beneath a nonmetallic support with a substantially unbroken utensil supporting surface. The induction heating coil is driven with an ultrasonic frequency wave generated by a static power conversion circuit typically formed of a rectifier and an inverter. The inverter is a series capacitor commutated sine wave inverter with a variable output frequency, variable input voltage, or variable commutating components to adjust the utensil heating level. The inverter is also controlled in on-off mode by a utensil temperature sensor.

An economical smooth-top cooking appliance for inductively heating cooking utensils preferably comprises a flat air-core induction heating coil driven at an ultrasonic frequency by a simplified one-thyristor, one-transistor, or two-transistor resonant inverter. The series and parallel resonant circuits in the inverters are formed by a capacitor and the induction heating coil. The one-thyristor series resonant circuit is desirable because power control to adjust the cooking temperature is obtained by the combined effect of increasing the frequency and amplitude of the sinusoidal current pulses supplied to the coil. The coil is also movable to change the gap spacing between coil and utensil to vary the coupled power. Flux beneath the coil is used for warming purposes.

A smooth-top cooking appliance for inductively heating cooking utensils comprises a flat induction heating coil driven at an ultrasonic frequency by a solid state inverter. The control circuit for the inverter is suitable for fabrication as an integrated circuit and includes, in addition to turn-on circuitry, protection circuits to assure reliable and automatic operation under abnormal circuit conditions such as overvoltages and low input voltages tending to cause device and power circuit failures. The control circuit also includes a utensil presence detection circuit to assure operation under load and no-load conditions. Voltage responsive sensors such as Zener diodes sense the appropriate voltages at selected points on the power circuit and modify the operation of the control circuit, preferably by over-riding and inhibiting the turn-on circuitry. Disclosed with regard to a one-thyristor, variable frequency series resonant inverter with an added maximum frequency control, the protection circuit technique is applicable to inverters generally.

Disclosed in an induction range having a counter with an uninterrupted top or working surface on which a cooking vessel is supported and inductively heated by an induction coil situated beneath the counter. Since only the cooking vessel is inductively heated, rather than the counter, the counter is relatively cool. In order to actually determine the temperature of foodstuff being cooked in the vessel there is provided a temperature sensing unit suitably encapsulated in an immersion-type thermistor unit to which there is attached flexible cable comprising thermistor leads or conductors. The thermistor unit is immersed in the foodstuff in the vessel. The flexible cable extends out of the cooking vessel and is terminated in a portable magnetic coupling device which, when resting on the work surface of the range counter, magnetically couples signals representing temperature correlated changes in the thermistor unit''s impedance to a magnetic receptor device mounted below the range counter. Thus, temperature changes in the immersed thermistor unit are reflected as temperature correlated impedance changes to the magnetic receptor device and these impedance changes, in turn, are effective to help determine the true temperature of the foodstuff being cooked in the vessel.

A time-share transmitter for providing parallel-to-serial conversion of information includes a triggered pulse generator for developing the output information and time-share receiver synchronizing pulses in time separated form. A flip-flop triggered by a first one-shot multivibrator generates timing pulses for triggering the pulse generator as well as initiating operation of a multistage parallel-to-serial converter which converts the information to serial form. The serial output of the converter is connected to an AND logic circuit having a second input from the flip-flop, and the output of the AND circuit supplies the information pulses to the triggered pulse generator.

Electronic circuitry for sequentially firing photoflash lamps of an array of multiple flash lamps. The circuitry comprises means for causing capacitors to be charged, at different rates of charging, upon the occurrence of a start-flash signal. These capacitors are respectively associated, by means of solid state switching devices, with certain flashlamps of the array, and the unfired flashlamp associated with the charging capacitor which first reaches a predetermined voltage, will be the first to fire. Alternatively, the first lamp to be fired need not be associated with a capacitor. Upon a lamp firing, disenabling circuitry causes discontinuing of charging of the capacitors until occurrence of the next start-flash signal, whereupon the capacitors repeat or resume their charging until the unfired flashlamp becomes fired which is associated with the next charging capacitor to reach the predetermined firing voltage. The procedure is repeated for causing sequential firing of all flashlamps in the array. Circuit modifications and alternative embodiments disclosed, including a single-capacitor circuit.
