Abstract:
A print selection system for a printer detects printable characters by comparison of numbers representing print characters at designated print positions with numbers representing input characters desired to be printed at these designated print positions. Serial storage of the numbers compared, bit-by-bit serial computation and partial line storage capacity combine to afford minimum hardware high-speed print selection.
Abstract:
A time-share transmitter for providing parallel-to-serial conversion of information includes a triggered pulse generator for developing the output information and time-share receiver synchronizing pulses in time separated form. A flip-flop triggered by a first one-shot multivibrator generates timing pulses for triggering the pulse generator as well as initiating operation of a multistage parallel-to-serial converter which converts the information to serial form. The serial output of the converter is connected to an AND logic circuit having a second input from the flip-flop, and the output of the AND circuit supplies the information pulses to the triggered pulse generator.
Abstract:
An optical link between display panels of an illuminated traveling message display sign system includes a time-share transmitter having an optical transmitter connected to the output thereof and an optical receiver located remote from the optical transmitter and a time-share receiver connected to the output thereof. The optical transmitter includes a light emitting diode and the optical receiver includes a photoelectric device for detecting the optical output of the optical transmitter and converting the detected output into serial electrical pulse form. The time-share receiver converts the output of the optical receiver to data in parallel electrical pulse form.
Abstract:
An insulating support for the workpiece in a glow discharge apparatus. A workpiece table rests on and forms an acute angle with an insulating ceramic tube. A thin poorly conductive layer of sputtered metal deposit on the exterior of the tube, except at the location of the table and tube junction, forms a selfadjusting layer with a continuous potential gradient which suppresses arcing after the glow is established.
