    Abstract: An electro-optic device includes a first substrate having a first surface and a second surface, the first and second surfaces are substantially parallel to one another; a second substrate having a third surface and a fourth surface, the third and fourth surfaces are substantially parallel to one another; a sealing member; and an electrochromic medium; wherein the first and second substrates are substantially parallel to one another; the sealing member is positioned between the first substrate and second substrate to define a chamber containing the electrochromic medium; the second surface and the third surface are proximate to one another; the second surface includes a conductive layer; the third surface includes an optional second conductive layer; an active cathode region is present in one or more of the first conductive layer and the optional second conductive layer; an active anode region is present in one or more of the first conductive layer and the optional second conductive layer; and (1) the active anode region is at least partially not occluded by the active cathode region when the chamber is viewed from any vantage point perpendicular to the second surface; or (2) the active cathode region is at least partially not occluded by the active anode region when the chamber is viewed from any vantage point perpendicular to the second surface.

    Abstract: An electro-optic cell for an electrochromic device includes an electrochromic medium including an electrochromic compound M having at least one reduced state and at least one oxidized state. The electrochromic compound M can act as both the anodic material and the cathodic material in the electro-optic cell. The electrochromic medium can be capable of reversibly attenuating transmittance of light having a wavelength within a predetermined range.

    Abstract: An imaging system is provided that includes an imager, an optical lens stack, and an electro-optic element positioned between the imager and the lens stack. The electro-optic element includes a first substantially transparent substrate defining first and second surfaces. The second surface includes a first electrically conductive layer. A second substantially transparent substrate defines third and fourth surfaces. The third surface has a second electrically conductive layer. A primary seal is disposed between the first and second substrates. The seal and the first and second substrates define a cavity therebetween. An electro-optic medium is disposed within the cavity. The electro-optic medium is operable between substantially clear and substantially opaque states.

    Abstract: An electro-optic assembly includes a first substrate and a second substrate that is disposed in a substantially parallel spaced apart relationship with the first substrate. A first conductive layer is disposed on the first substrate, and a second conductive layer is disposed on the second substrate. A cathodic electro-optic film is in contact with the second conductive layer and includes a cathodic species. An anodic electro-optic film is in contact with the first conductive layer. The anodic electro-optic film includes a plurality of anodic species mixed at a molar ratio that is configured to generally maintain an a* value and a b* value of the electro-optic assembly both staying between −8 and 8 between a high-end transmission state and a fully darkened state caused by an applied voltage range. An electrolyte medium is disposed between the cathodic and anodic electro-optic films.
