Abstract:
Flame-resistant metal-containing polyacyloxalamidrazone filaments and a process for their production in which the filaments are treated with one or more solvent-soluble compounds of at least one of the metals zinc, tin, cadmium, barium, strontium, calcium, antimony and tantalum for a period of time sufficient to render the filaments resistant to flame.
Abstract:
AN AQUEOUS ALKALI METAL HYDROXIDE SOLUTION IN WHICH THERE IS DISSOLVED A POLYVACYLAXAMIDRAZONE, THE RESULTING ALKALINE POLYMER SOLUTION BEING USEFUL FOR THE PRODUCTION OF HEAT-RESISTANT SHAPED PRODUCTS SUCH AS FILAMENTS, FILM, COATING AND THE LIKE. A PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THESE PRODUCTS INCLUDES THE STEPS OF FORMING THE POLYMER SOLUTION INTO A FILAMENT OR FILM IN CONTACT WITH AN ACID PRECIPITATION BATH, WASHING THE PRECIPITATE AND SUBSEQUENTLY HEATING TO A TEMPERATURE OF APPROXIMATELY 230-350*C.
Abstract:
As a composition of matter, a dilute aqueous alkaline solution in which there is dissolved a polyhydrazide characterized by recurring polymeric units of the formula -NH-NH-CO-R-CO-NH-NH-COR''-CO-n (I) in which R and R'' represent divalent aromatic or heterocyclic radicals such a phenylene, naphthalene or diphenylether and n is a large integer. This alkaline polymer solution can be used to form shaped products which in turn can be converted by heating into thermally-stable and insoluble polyoxadiazoles.
Abstract:
PRODUCTION OF A POLYACHYOXAMIDRAZONE BEARING A METHYL GROUP AS A SUBSTITUENT ON NITROGEN ATOMS IN THE POLYMER CHAINS, THE POLYMER BEING PRODUCED BY REACTION OF N, N''-DIMETHYL OXALIC ACID BISAMIDRAZONE WITH A DICARBOXYLIC ACID DICHLORIDE OR DIBROMIDE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN ACID ACCEPTOR. THE RESULTING POLYCONENSATE EXHIBITS VALUABLE PROPERTIES AS A FIBER-FORMING OR FILM-FORMING PRODUCT.
Abstract:
A METAL-CONTAINING POLYACYLOXALAMIDRAZONE IN WHICH THE METAL IS CHEMICALLY BOUND TO THE POLYMER TO PROVIDE A HEAT-RESISTANT COLORED COMPOSITION USEFUL AS A PIGMENT OR A SUPPORTED METAL CATALYST.
