Abstract: A laser brazing and welding system is disclosed and includes: a laser; a first cutting tool including a first cutting tip; and a control module. The control module is configured to control the laser to laser braze or laser weld two parts; and control ultrasonic vibration of the first cutting tip to remove one or more layers from at least one of the two parts prior to or subsequent to the laser brazing or laser welding of the two parts.

Abstract: A vision inspection system for laser welds includes a scanning station to support a workpiece including one or more laser welds. A vision sensing assembly includes a top surface, a bottom surface, side surfaces, a light source, and a sensor. The light source illuminates the workpiece while the sensor generates an image of the one or more laser welds of the workpiece. A shield is arranged around the top surface and the side surfaces of the vision sensing assembly. The bottom surface of the vision sensing assembly is arranged above a lower edge of the shield by a first predetermined distance.

Abstract: A battery system includes N hollow battery cells, each including an enclosure including a top surface, a bottom surface, and a side wall; a hollow center tube including a side wall and a cavity enclosed by the side wall, and a roll including electrode and separator layers arranged between an outer surface of the hollow center tube and the enclosure. The hollow center tube passes through at least one of the top surface and the bottom surface of the enclosure. A battery heat exchange system includes a first fluid channel including N ports configured to at least one of supply fluid to and receive fluid from at least one end of the hollow center tube of the N hollow battery cells.
