    Abstract: A system for transferring a frame within an Ethernet network of a vehicle. The system includes an Ethernet switch, first and second feature modules and a NAM. The Ethernet switch includes first and second ports connected respectively to the first and second feature modules. The NAM: receives a priority request message from the second feature module; generates a priority response message indicating information for the second feature module to set a priority level of a frame; and transmits the priority response message to the second feature module. The Ethernet switch: receives the frame from the second feature module at the first port, where the frame has a first bit indicative of the priority level and a second bit indicative of a port of the first feature module; and forwards the frame, based on the first and second bits, to a corresponding one of the queues having the priority level and for transmission to the port of the first feature module.

    Abstract: A method for voice recognition (VR)-based task allocation and hotword detection function control for within a wireless network having a hands-free (HF) node, e.g., a motor vehicle or telematics unit thereof, and an audio gateway (AG) node such as a wireless device, includes detecting, via a first wireless chipset of the HF node, a second wireless chipset of the AG node. The wireless chipsets include respective VR engines responsive to a corresponding hotword. The method includes establishing a Bluetooth or other wireless connection between the wireless chipsets in response to detecting the second wireless chipset. The method may include automatically transmitting a disable command signal to the second wireless chipset, via the first wireless chipset, to thereby disable a hotword detection function of the second wireless chipset. The method may be recorded on a computer readable medium as instructions executable by a processor.

    Abstract: A Bluetooth transceiver module is configured to pair with a mobile electronic device that is configured to communicate with a cellular network. A hands-free module is configured to, while the mobile electronic device is paired, selectively generate attention commands for transmission to the mobile electronic device, the attention commands including: standard attention commands that are defined by a Bluetooth Hands-Free Profile (HFP) specification; and non-standard attention commands that are not defined by the Bluetooth HFP specification. The Bluetooth transceiver module is further configured to: transmit the attention commands to the mobile electronic device; from the mobile electronic device, receive: first responses to standard attention commands, respectively; and second responses to non-standard attention commands; and, in response to receipt of one of the second responses to a non-standard attention command that is not defined by the Bluetooth HFP specification, pass the one of the second responses to the hands-free module.

    Abstract: A vehicular communication controller includes a microcontroller (MCU) located within a vehicle to publish a newly defined protocol data unit (PDU) including a header and a payload portion to a destination device. The destination device may utilize a first protocol or a second protocol. If the destination device utilizes the first protocol that includes an automotive/embedded communication protocol then the MCU serializes the payload portion of the PDU and binds the PDU to the first protocol. The destination device may then receive the PDU using the first protocol, deserialize the payload portion, and remove the header leaving the payload portion unchanged and recreate, based on the deserialized payload portion, the PDU.

    Abstract: Control systems and methods are provided for vehicles that include, in one embodiment, a plurality of sensors, and a processor. The plurality of sensors are dispersed across a body of the vehicle, and are configured to detect an electronic device in proximity to the vehicle; and collect sensor data with respect to the electronic device. The processor is configured to determine, using the sensor data, whether the electronic device is physically disposed inside the vehicle; and selectively connect the electronic device with a telematics unit of the vehicle, via the processor, based on whether the electronic device is physically disposed inside the vehicle.
