    摘要: A method for securing a permanent magnet within a rotor core is described. The rotor core includes a first end and a second end and at least one permanent magnet opening configured to receive the permanent magnet. The method includes coupling a first rotor end lamination to the first end of the rotor core. The first lamination includes at least one inner wall that defines an opening within the first lamination that corresponds to the permanent magnet opening in the rotor core. The first lamination includes a bridge portion positioned between the at least one inner wall and an outer edge of the first rotor end lamination. The method also includes positioning a permanent magnet at least partially within the permanent magnet opening and mechanically deforming the bridge portion of the first lamination to secure the permanent magnet within the permanent magnet opening.

    摘要: Power signals having controllable peak-to-peak amplitudes are provided to electrode sets so that during a first period of time, a first amplitude signal is provided to a first electrode set and a second amplitude signal is provided to a second electrode set. The first amplitude is greater than the second amplitude and bipolar current flows from the first electrode set to the second electrode set. During a second period of time, a third amplitude signal is provided to the first electrode set and a fourth amplitude signal is provided to the second electrode set. The third amplitude is less than the fourth amplitude and the current flows from the second electrode set to the first electrode set. Alternating first and second periods of time establish repetitive bipolar current flow between electrode sets. The addition of a backplate establishes unipolar current flow.

    摘要: A back construction for a chair includes a back shell having a plurality of horizontal bands defining a flexible lumbar section, with the back shell including non-parallel guides defined along its edges. A vertically adjustable lumbar support includes a panel body located at the flexible lumbar section, a bent wire member that engages the panel body and that is stretchable laterally, and opposing handles attached to ends of the bent wire member that engage the non-parallel guides. The opposing handles slidingly follow the guides and are movable between a first position where the bent wire member is flexed to a first width dimension, and a second position where the bent wire member is flexed to a second width dimension different than the first width dimension. Slots in the panel body retain the bent wire member to the panel body, but permit the bent wire member to be stretched horizontally during vertical adjustment of the lumbar support. The panel body includes generously radiused upper and lower edges shaped to slide over top and bottom edges of the plurality of horizontal bands without catching on and unacceptably twisting individual ones of the bands when the vertically adjustable lumbar support is vertically adjusted.

    摘要: A cardioversion/defibrillation electrode comprising an insulative element which supports one or more planar conductive elements. The conductive elements are spaced apart from each other by a "conductor-free" region, which serves as a spring loaded hinge about which the electrode may preferentially bend. The electrode is thereby spring loaded to adopt a substantially planar orientation in a relaxed state but is capable of bending to a non planar orientation wherein the electrode is folded about the hinge to facilitate intrathoracic introduction. After introduction, the spring loaded hinge causes the electrode to adopt its relaxed substantially planar orientation for attachment on or near the heart surface. Due to the preferential bending in the "conductor-free" region, the electrode conductive elements are not permanently or substantially deformed during implantation.
