摘要: This mechanism for driving motions of a surface of spherical, ellipsoidal, plane, or other shape comprises a pair of drive wheels mounted on a freely pivoting frame, each wheel being driven by its own bidirectional motor. The motors and the active electronics of an angle encoder are mounted in an associated fixed frame, so no slip rings or other rotating connections are needed for motor power and control, or for determining the rotation angle of the pivoting frame. Control of the motors provides differential rotation of the two wheels to effect controlled rotation of the pivoting frame, and therefore of wheel direction. This avoids the use of a separate motor for changing the direction of motion of the surface. All parts of the mechanism driving wheel rotation are enclosed by the pivoting frame or the fixed frame.

摘要: For a vehicle using dead reckoning or some other type of navigation which accumulates error as the vehicle moves, this invention provides a simple, single-sensor, low-cost, highly-accurate system for correcting navigation errors. The system uses a marker structure with optical density which is formed from one or more periodic patterns. The vehicle's navigation computer records the density, measured by the sensor, as the sensor moves on a line over a marker at a known location, then it processes the recorded density function to get the correct navigation parameters. If the vehicle's usual path passes over a marker, that path can be used without change for acquiring navigation corrections.

摘要: An artificial neuron for use in a neural processing network comprises a plurality of input signal lines, an arrangement for computing a nonlinear function of the sum of the inputs multiplied by associated weights, and a saturating delta-sigma modulator which oversamples the computed value and produces an encoded neuron output signal. Conversion of signals for use by these neurons preferably is performed by delta-sigma modulators at the inputs to the neurons, which may be incorporated directly into sensors. Processing of the output signals from the neuron includes low-pass filtering and decimation. The present invention may be used in many diverse areas. For example, arrays of sensors with delta signal modulators may be coupled with a network of the neurons to form an intelligent vision system. Linear signal processing, both conventional and adaptive, can be done by a simple neuronal system that operates linearly.

摘要: This motion simulator uses a spherical shape driven by controlled wheels to produce any rotational motion within certain limits. The range of pitch and roll motions can be at least −15 to +15 degrees; yaw is unlimited. There are no moving electrical connections such as slip rings. The physical system can be produced inexpensively. Control and simulation display use a smart phone or computer tablet, which, for example, could be one already owned by a family using the simulator.

摘要: This invention is a child's detachable-seat ride-on vehicle which can be used in an autonomous mode for infants, thereby providing soothing motion for the child, or, with a different detachable seat, a child-controlled ride-on vehicle for young children that are beyond the infant stage. For the latter, the vehicle can be driven by the child using finger control on a touch screen, or it can operate in an autonomous mode coordinated with displayed material, thereby providing enhanced game or educational experiences.
