Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system and method using a charge collection antenna in a wearable device to collect charge variation based on a user's jawbone and muscle motion. The collected charge variation may be used to determine an on-body status of the wearable device. For example, in wireless earbuds, information acquired from a charge collection antenna may be used to determine whether the earbud is worn in-ear by the user. The collected charge variation may also be used to detect jaw motion by the user.

Abstract: Detecting ambient light incident on a display includes: detecting incident light at a first photosensor; producing, at the first photosensor, a first measurement signal in response to detecting the incident light at the first photosensor; transmitting the first measurement signal to blink detection circuitry; deriving, at the blink detection circuitry, a blink rate signal from the first measurement signal, in which the blink rate signal is indicative of both an on-period during which light is emitted by a display and an off-period during which light is not emitted by the display; transmitting the blink rate signal to a second photosensor; and detecting incident light at the second photosensor during the off-period of the blink rate signal.

Abstract: Reducing blinking pixels in a display includes detecting a first timing of activation of one or more emissive elements of the display, detecting a second timing of sensing pulses from a sensor arranged to detect radiation transmitted through the display, determining, based on the first timing and the second timing, a synchronized timing that staggers the activation of the one or more emissive elements of the display and the sensing pulses from the sensor, and dynamically altering, based on the determined synchronized timing, a subsequent timing of the sensing pulses from the sensor to reduce blinking of at least some of the pixels compared to blinking associated with the synchronized timing.
