摘要: Methods, systems, and articles of manufacture consistent with the present invention provide for determining the orientation of natural fractures in the Earth resulting from hydraulic fracturing treatment. Data attribute information from a far-field point-source signal profile for a microseismic event is extracted in the time domain. An estimate of the orientation of the natural fracture is calculated in the time domain based on the extracted data attribute information.

摘要: A system and method for monitoring geophysical processes is disclosed. The system may include a component array located within the bore hole of the active well, or, alternatively, in the bore hole of a nearby offset well, or, alternatively, in multiple shallow boreholes in the surface around the active well. The system may include a sensor array located within a bore, wherein the sensor array has at least one tilt sensor and at least one microseismic sensor, a transmitter in communication with the at least one tilt sensor and the at least one microseismic sensor, and a receiver in communication with the transmitter. In one embodiment, data comprising tiltmeter data and microseismic data from a sensor during at least one geophysical process is received. The microseismic data is analyzed to ascertain a location of each microseismic event of a plurality of microseismic events isolated from the microseismic data, and the tiltmeter data is analyzed to ascertain orientation and dimension of a fracture developed during said at least one geophysical process.

摘要: A system and method for microseismic fracture mapping using seismic source timing measurements for velocity calibration is disclosed. The system may include a seismic source coupled to a wireline and a seismic source trigger, a sensor capable of detecting a first signal from the seismic source trigger, a transmitter coupled to the sensor, capable of transmitting a time value associated with the first signal, a receiver capable of detecting an event generated by the seismic source; and an analyzer capable of calculating a microseismic velocity of the event. In one embodiment, a first signal is transmitted through a wireline to trigger a seismic source. The first signal is detected, and a first time value associated with the first signal is transmitted. An event associated with the seismic source is detected and a second signal associated with the event is transmitted to an analyzer. A microseismic velocity is calibrated based on the time difference between the first time value and a second time value associated with the second signal.

摘要: A tunnel thruster system for a vessel. The tunnel thruster system includes a thruster propulsion mechanism including a drive unit driving a transmission and propeller assembly located within a thruster tunnel. The thruster tunnel comprising a propeller section, first and second tapered tunnel sections interconnected with one another by the propeller section, the propeller section and the first and the second tapered tunnel sections oriented substantially transversely to a keel of the vessel and accommodating the transmission and propeller assembly. Each tapered tunnel section extends from the propeller section to a tunnel opening through a hull of the vessel. Diameters of the first and the second tapered tunnel sections corresponding to a diameter of the propeller section at the propeller section and taper outward toward a larger diameter at each of the corresponding tunnel openings through the hull of the vessel.
