摘要: This disclosure presents a method and process to improve the accuracy of the calculations for true vertical depth and Eastings and Northings pair of a borehole while drilling operations are in progress. The method utilizes continuous survey parameters that are collected while drilling operations are in progress, and that have been collected between two neighboring stationary survey parameters. The stationary survey parameters are assumed to be ground truth and are fused with an invertible solution to a low order polynomial to generate the true vertical depth and an Eastings and Northings pair at each continuous survey location. An objective function can be used to optimize and solve the polynomial. The method can be performed on a well site controller, a geo-steering system, a bottom hole assembly, or other computing system capable of receiving the collected measurements, performing the method steps, and communicating the resultant borehole position parameters to other systems.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided to facilitate connection of multiple stage completions. A first completion stage is deployed at a wellbore location. Subsequently, the next completion stage is moved downhole into engagement with the first completion stage. The completion stages each have communication lines that are coupled together downhole via a wetmate connection. Systems and methods for determining an orientation of the communication lines relative to the wellbore are also provided.

The method further includes determining, using a computer processor, a reorientation angle between the disoriented image and the reference image. The method further includes determining an oriented image of the second rock core based, at least in part, on rotating the disoriented image through the reorientation angle.

摘要: Methods and systems for quantifying and minimizing wellbore breakouts are disclosed. The methods include obtaining a mechanical earth model (MEM), determining a critical collapse pressure (CCP) using an inclination angle and the MEM, and determining an initial mud weight based on the CCP. The methods also include generating a breakout analysis using the initial mud weight, the MEM and a numerical modeling algorithm, updating the inclination angle of the planned wellbore, updating the CCP based on the updated inclination angle and the MEM, and updating the breakout analysis using the initial mud weight, the updated CCP, the MEM, and the numerical modeling algorithm. The methods further include selecting the updated CCP based, on the updated inclination angle that meets the stopping condition, calculating a final mud weight for the planned wellbore based on the updated CCP, and conditioning a drilling mud to the final mud weight, using a mud system.

The system and method additionally include generating at least one well plan that is based on the constraints and the set of points for constructing a well associated with the wellbore. The system and method further include transmitting the at least one well plan to a drilling system to execute the at least one well plan to control drilling equipment to construct the well.

The system can receive data, including an offset well surveys, measuring instrument information, and a well casing diameter, about offset wells in a subterranean formation. The system can determine reference well values. The system can generate boundary lines for the offset wells based on the received data and the calculated reference well values. The system can adjust the boundary lines, and can output the adjusted boundary lines for controlling a drilling operation.

The curvature cruise controller utilizes a model-based controller (such as an LQR controller) to generate steering inputs based on the desired curvature and attitude setpoints and real time measurements. The model-based controller is configured with a wellbore propagation model that characterizes the tool's response dynamics. The curvature cruise controller utilizes real time drilling operation parameters measurements to tune the model-based controller.
