摘要： Apparatus for rapid discharge of one or more fire extinguishing agent(s). The apparatus includes a sealed container forming an interior volume in communication with a rapidly opening valve assembly. The interior volume contains fire extinguishing agent(s), super-pressurised by a gas such as nitrogen. A portion of the nitrogen is dissolved into the fire extinguishing agent(s). When an incident is detected which requires the discharge of the fire extinguishing agent(s) the valve is opened. Opening the valve causes rapid dissolution of the nitrogen from the fire extinguishing agent(s), forming a two-phase mixture (like a foam or mousse) which substantially fills the volume and causing the discharge of fire extinguishing agent(s) from the valve assembly.

摘要： Apparatus 11 for rapid discharge of one or more fire extinguishing agent(s) comprises a sealed container 13 forming an interior volume 15 in communication with a rapidly opening valve assembly 17. The interior volume contains fire extinguishing agent(s), super-pressurised by a gas such as nitrogen. A portion of the nitrogen is dissolved into the fire extinguishing agent(s). When an incident is detected which requires the discharge of the fire extinguishing agent(s) the valve 17 is opened. Opening the valve 17 causes rapid dissolution of the nitrogen from the fire extinguishing agent(s), forming a two-phase mixture (like a foam or mousse) which substantially fills the volume 15 and causing the discharge of fire extinguishing agent(s) from the valve assembly 17. Because the two phase mixture is used to discharge the fire extinguishing agent(s), and this two phase mixture substantially fills the interior volume 15, the fire extinguishing agent(s) will be discharged irrespective of the orientation of the canister 13 and the position of the valve assembly 17.

摘要： A fire blanket comprises two superimposed fabric layers stitched or otherwise attached together along an array of intersecting lines to form a plurality of pockets or cells. Within the cells are disposed sealed bags made of plastics material containing a chemical compound which melts and reacts endothermically when heated, such as sodium hydrogen acetate. When the fire blanket is deployed over a fire, extinguishing action takes place by exclusion of oxygen. In addition, though, the plastics material of the bags melts or ruptures to release the melted chemical compound which permeates through the porosity of the fabric and onto the fire. The bags prevent seepage of the melted chemical compound into the fabric during conditions of high temperature transport or storage and any consequent stiffening of the fabric which would reduce its efficiency of deployment. Edge regions of the blanket may be devoid of the bags to enable the blanket to be more easily draped over the fire region.
