摘要: An apparatus (10) for capturing fingerprint images having a platen (21) sized for at most two fingers of a hand, and an imaging system for enabling capture of fingerprint images presented to the platen (21), in which images of two different finger pairs are captured for each hand of a subject when presented to the platen. At least one processor (27) which determines for each of the images captured a difference in height of at least one characteristic of the fingers in the image. Using said difference in height of the fingers in each of the images, the processor (27) verifies that the correct sequence of specific ones of finger pair was provided by the subject to the platen when images were captured. Fingerprint images acquired from the images may be stored in an electronic record along with thumb prints and subject information, and optionally the height differences for the images.

摘要: Holographic media for storing and reading holographic data is provided having one or more external or internal surfaces having structures for at least one of minimizing reflections from illumination incident the surface, or enhancing adhesion between surfaces within the media. Structures for minimizing reflections represent a grating pattern of subwavelength structures providing low reflectivity at the operating characteristics of holographic optical systems to use the media, such as spectral bandwidth, angular bandwidth, and polarization of illumination incident the media. Adhesion promotion may be provided by structures along an interior surface of the media, such as along an interfacing surface between photosensitive material of the media and a substrate material adjoining the photosensitive material. Such adhesion promotion may be provided by such structured surface with or without providing low reflectivity at the operating characteristics of holographic optical systems to use the media. The structures may be same or similar to one-, two-, or three-dimensional sinusoidal, triangular, staircase, moth eye, pyramidal, lamellar, or binary structures, or combinations thereof, and may be periodic or random.

摘要: A sensor for capturing images of skin topology is provided having a platen, and a one or two-dimensional array of light sensing pixel elements for receiving light representative of skin topology when skin, such as finger(s), are present upon the platen. Such sensor being improved by structures, layers, or methods for reducing or blocking ambient light which would hinder the light sensing pixel elements from sensing the light representative of skin topology. The sensors are non-imaging contact sensors as they have platen to contact skin to be imaged, and do not require optics, such as lenses for focusing and/or magnification, to enable proper capture of light representative of skin topology on the sensor's light sensing pixel elements.

摘要: The apparatus represents a device having one or two sensors for capturing a single image or two images having the subject's eyes, and processor(s) in a housing with the one or two sensors and/or in a computer system which receives the single image or two images. Such processor(s) determine a head tilt angle between a virtual line extending between the two eyes of the subject in accordance with a predefined features associated with the eyes and a dimension characterizing zero head tilt in the single image or two images, segment left and right iris images, and rotate the segmented left and right iris images in accordance with the angle to substantially remove head tilt when present. The apparatus may also determine head tilt using predefined features associated with a single eye in the image. The resulting iris image(s) are utilized for enrollment or identification.

摘要: A sensor is provided for capturing images of skin topology having an upper surface providing a platen, and a one or two-dimensional array of light sensing pixel elements for receiving light representative of the topology of skin when upon the upper surface and illuminated by at least redirected ambient light received within the sensor through the upper surface. One or more layers or coatings of reflective or scattering materials are provided in the sensor for redirecting ambient light by one or more of reflection, scattering, or propagation towards the platen to illuminate the skin. The pixel elements are sensitive to one or more selected wavelengths or wavelength ranges of the ambient light present. Optional light source(s) may be provided for use when ambient light present is inadequate for proper sensor operation.
