    摘要: Apparatus (20) for mounting the horizontal compressor (10) of a vapor compression air conditioner to a foundation includes an L-shaped bracket (21) at each compressor end, each bracket having a horizontal leg (21H) adapted for attachment to mounting lugs (11) which extend laterally outwardly from the compressor casing. Each bracket is sized and otherwise configured so that its vertical leg (21V) extends upwardly from the horizontal leg along the outside of an end (102 or 103) of the compressor casing (101) to a point above the drive shaft axis of rotation (A.sub.R) of the compressor motor. A pin (22) is secured to and extends outwardly from the vertical leg of the bracket. The longitudinal axis of each pin is coincident with the driveshaft axis of rotation. Each pin extends into a pin socket (25) in a respective mounting support (24) which is securely fastened to a foundation (30) such as the base pan of an air conditioner. A resilient grommet (23) is disposed between each pin and its respective pin socket and vibrationally isolates the compressor, from the mounting support and the foundation.

    摘要: A method and apparatus utilizing a hot gas defrost system wherein superheated gas from the system compressor is conducted into a heat exchanger mounted within an accumulator for supplying heat to vaporize liquid refrigerant received from the evaporator. After the gas passes through the heat exchanger it is conducted to the condenser where it is condensed to a liquid and then routed to the evaporator. In the evaporator or frost accumulating coil the liquid refrigerant is subcooled, supplying heat to melt the ice formed on the evaporator surfaces and the liquid is thereafter conducted to the accumulator where the heat supplied from the heat exchanger acts to vaporize the fluid. The vaporized refrigerant is then recycled to the compressor to complete the system.

The plug has a flexible skirt (15) that extends axially downward to fit snugly over the shoulder (43) of the body (41) of the terminal assembly when connected. An ear (16, 26) extends from the side wall (13) of the plug and has an engaging slot (17) which is sized and configured so that the engaging slot engages a stud (52) that extends from the compressor shell (51) in the vicinity of the terminal assembly when the plug is correctly installed on the terminal assembly. The ear may also include a cavity for receiving a thermal overload sensor (71) that may be associated with the compressors.

    摘要: Apparatus for securing a heat transfer unit to either a wall or a ceiling is disclosed. A fastening panel forming a portion of the heat transfer unit further defines a series of projecting tabs having narrowed tab inclined portions connecting the tabs to the rear panel. Mounting brackets are provided having mounting openings with both wide and narrow portions. The openings are designed such that the tab inclined portion is secured within the mounting opening narrow portion with the tab body abutting a portion of the mounting bracket to maintain the fan coil unit in a secured horizontal position. The bracket might additionally be utilized to secure the unit in a vertical position as when mounting the unit to a wall.

    摘要: An electronic control box is provided with an internally disposed vent channel which carries ambient air from a bottom opening to the top portion of the control box. The cooling air is then caused to flow downwardly through the control box and over the electronic components by way of a bottom opening which is fluidly connected by a vent tube to a negative pressure area created by the fan. The flow of cooling air through the control box is therefore promoted while maintaining the water-tight integrity of the box.

    摘要: An expansion device for use in a reversible vapor compression refrigeration cycle for producing, upon demand, either heating or cooling. Two devices are mounted in opposed relationship in a supply line carrying refrigerant between a first heat exchanger and a second heat exchanger. Each expansion device includes a body having a flow passage therein opening into an expanded chamber. A free-floating piston is slidably mounted in the chamber and is moved to a first position when refrigerant is passed through the line in a first direction and to a second position when the direction of flow is reversed. A centrally located metering port passes through the piston while fluted channels are formed in its outer periphery. When in the first position, the fluted channels are closed against one side wall of the chamber and refrigerant is throttled through the metering port from the high pressure exchanger (condenser) into the low pressure exchanger (evaporator). Reversing the direction of refrigerant flow causes the piston to be moved into the second position wherein the fluted channels are opened to the supply line to allow an unrestricted flow of refrigerant about the piston.
