    摘要: An apparatus for controlling the supply of power to an electric drive motor normally controls the duty cycle of a power switching element to produce a variety of vehicle speeds. The apparatus typically controls the rate of change of the duty cycle to provide smooth vehicle operation. During periods of extended high speed, high load operation the apparatus bypasses the power switching element and connects the vehicle battery directly to the drive motor via a contactor. Under normal operating conditions the bypass contactor is energized after a relatively short preselected delay; however, where the vehicle is heavily loaded, such that current limiting of the power switching element exists, the apparatus interactively delays energization of the bypass contactor to allow the vehicle sufficient time to accelerate to a higher speed. Such a control system advantageously reduces drive line shock and jerky operation of the vehicle, as well as, excessive sparking at the contactor.

    摘要: Information related to the rotary angular position of a steerable wheel portion of an electric vehicle is required for proper control of the vehicle and especially for differential control of the driven wheels of the vehicle. Available rotary position encoders are expensive, prone to damage in an industrial environment, and sensitive to misalignment between the encoder components. The instant apparatus provides a simple and durable rotary position encoder having a plurality of sensors positioned on a first mounting member and a plurality of sensible members positioned on a second mounting member. The apparatus is digital in design and the particular location and arrangement of the sensors and sensible members advantageously compensates for overtravel and misalignment of the encoder components.

    摘要: A motor speed control system for a vehicle is provided. The control system includes an electric motor connected to a power coupling element for delivering electrical energy to the motor in response to a control signal. A sensor produces a current signal in response to the magnitude of the current flowing through the motor. An accelerator pedal produces a command signal in response to a desired vehicle speed. A microprocessor receives the command signal and responsively delivers a pulse width modulated control signal to the power coupling element. The control signal has a duty cycle in a range between a minimum and predefined value. Additionally, the microprocessor receives the current signal and increases the duty cycle of the control signal by a predetermined amount beyond the predefined value in response to the received current signal.

    摘要: Motor control circuits having solid-state switching elements are commonly used on industrial vehicles such as lift trucks. A short circuit condition in the motor circuit can cause catastrophic failure of the semiconductor switching element. The instant invention detects such a short circuit condition and modifies the motor control signals supplied by a chopper circuit to a switching element. The apparatus includes a trigger circuit for receiving the motor control signals and sensing a voltage across the motor produced in response to electrical power delivered from a power supply.

Advantageously, the output of such systems should be responsive to vehicle speed and the systems should be energy efficient. The subject power steering control system includes processor means for receiving a steering demand signal and a speed control signal, producing a high fluid flow rate signal in response to receiving the steering demand signal and to the speed control signal representing a vehicle speed less than or equal to a predetermined vehicle speed, producing a low fluid flow rate signal in response to receiving the steering demand signal and to the speed control signal representing a vehicle speed greater than the predetermined speed, and producing an idle fluid flow rate signal in response to failing to receive the steering demand signal. Hydraulic means receive the high, low, and idle fluid flow rate signals, produce respective predetermined hydraulic fluid flow rates in response to the received signal, and deliver the hydraulic fluid to the steering means.
