    摘要: Optical disc apparatuses. The apparatus comprises an optical pickup and a data recovery unit. The optical pickup irradiates laser light onto a disc, receives light reflected from the disc, and generates an RF signal in response to the received light. The data recovery unit comprises a first configuration and a second configuration. The data recovery unit receives the RF signal from the optical pickup, reproduces data according to the RF signal in the first configuration, and performs a signal quality index measurement of the RF signal in the second configuration.

    摘要: A focus controller and a focus control method are provided. The method allows the optical access apparatus focus from a current data layer onto a target layer. Each of the current layer and the target layer corresponds to a Spherical Aberration Compensation (SAC) value and a focus error related parameter. The method adjusts the SAC value in use to a temporary SAC value, adjusts the focus error related parameter in use to a temporary focus error related parameter, focuses on the target layer, adjusts the focus error related parameter in use to the focus error related parameter corresponding to the target layer, and adjusts the SAC value in use to the focus error related parameter corresponding to the target layer.

    摘要: A method and an apparatus for deciding a spherical aberration compensation (SAC) value for an optical storage medium are provided. The optical storage medium comprises at least one recording layer and a cover layer. The SAC value is suitable for a selected one of the at least one recording layer. First, a focus search on the optical storage medium is performed to derive a focus error (FE) signal in response to a testing SAC value. Then, a center level and a center basis corresponding to the testing SAC value according to the FE signal is determined. The SAC value according to the center level, the center basis, and the testing SAC value is also determined. When the center level and the center basis are equal, the SAC value is determined to be the testing SAC value.

    摘要: A method and an apparatus for deciding a spherical aberration compensation (SAC) value for an optical storage medium are provided.     摘要: An optical data accessing apparatus and method for changing the access from a first data layer to a second data layer of an optical storage medium are provided. The first data layer corresponds to a first SAC value, while the second data layer corresponds to a second SAC value. A processor of the optical data accessing apparatus is adapted for: (1) generating and sending a focus off signal to a pickup control unit to disable focus control; (2) generating a target value for an SAC to adjust an SAC value from the first SAC value to the target value, wherein the target value is between the first SAC value and the second SAC value; and (3) generating and sending a focus activation signal to the pickup control unit to re-enable the focus control to focus on the second data layer while the SAC value reaches the target value.

    摘要: A sensor array is integrated onto the same chip as core logic. The sensor array uses a first polysilicon and the core logic uses a second polysilicon. The first polysilicon is etched to provide a tapered profile edge in the interface between the sensor array and the core logic regions to avoid an excessive step. Amorphous carbon can be deposited over the interface region without formation of voids, thus providing for improved manufacturing yield and reliability.
