    Abstract: One example of a system includes a DC powered monitoring device and a battery backup power supply. The DC powered monitoring device is to monitor the status of an information technology (IT) enclosure environmental infrastructure. The monitoring device is to receive main DC power and backup DC power. The monitoring device is to operate using the backup DC power in response to a loss of the main DC power. The battery backup power supply is to provide the backup DC power to the monitoring device.

    Abstract: A technique includes receiving, from a primary chassis management controller, data representing an identifier for a support unit for a computer system rack. The presence of the support unit is detected by the primary chassis management controller, the primary chassis management controller is one of a plurality of chassis management controllers that are installed in the rack; and the plurality of chassis management controllers includes a plurality of secondary chassis management controllers. The technique includes accessing network switch forwarding table data; and based on the network switch forwarding table data and the identifier for the support unit, identifying a given secondary chassis management controller to which the support unit is connected by a network cable.

Further, the shutdown trigger may be provided to a remote management processor (218) of the computing device (202). The shutdown trigger may be provided based on port data (214), which indicates an outlet path from the auxiliary power supply unit (304, 312) to the at least one computing device.

    Abstract: Circuit boards for an electronic device are described. In one implementation, the circuit board includes at least two holes at two locations on the circuit board. Each of the at least two holes has a conductive contact coupled to a voltage source through a resistor. The circuit board includes a microcontroller programmed to measure voltages at conductive contacts of the at least two holes, and determine a position of the circuit board, when positioned on a conductive chassis of the electronic device, based on the measured voltages. The position of the circuit board may be one of a first end and a second end, and in between the first end and the second end, of the conductive chassis.
