Abstract: Examples relate to provisioning and activating hardware devices. In one example, a computing device may receive a request for a hardware resource; identify, in response to the request, a new hardware resource having hardware attributes indicating at least one capability of the new hardware resource; determine, based on the hardware attributes, a hardware template for provisioning the new hardware resource; configure the new hardware resource using the hardware template; and activate the new hardware resource in a cluster of at least one hardware device.

An example implementation includes fetching a public resource utilization metric and a public cloud resources cost. A private resource utilization metric is collected and a private cloud resources cost is calculated. A weighted efficiency index is calculated from the public cloud resources cost, the private cloud resources cost, or any combination thereof, and a weighted deviation from an ideal resource utilization percentage. The weighted efficiency index may be displayed on a user interface.

Abstract: Example implementations relate to a logical rack controller. In an example, a logical rack controller receives an inventory of a plurality of physical computing racks. The logical rack controller receives a logical rack definition that indicates selected physical infrastructure from among the inventory to form a logical rack. The logical rack controller validates the logical rack definition by verifying network connectivity of the selected physical infrastructure. After validation of the logical rack definition, the logical rack controller provides, to a provisioning controller, an interface to the logical rack. The provisioning controller can utilize the interface to access the logical rack.
