Methods and systems for submission and validating decentralized verifiable claims in a physical world

    Abstract: Methods and systems for implementing Blockchain-based verifiable claims for use with assets in a physical world, such as Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices, are described. Verifiable claims are integrated with Root of Trust (RoT) technology, in a manner that allows verifiable claims to be linked with physical assets and a “proof” of provisioning of decentralized identity to be established. A system integrates Blockchain and IoT technologies, including Blockchain IoT device with hardware RoT implemented thereon. A validation process leverages RoT of the device to establish a decentralized “proof” of RoT on the Blockchain, which can then be used as a verifiable claim for the device. The validation process can also use the “proof” of RoT to further validate data obtained from the Blockchain IoT device, and to validate business logic allowing context based control of any subsequent transactions. Further, the validation process achieves automation with respect to trustability.

    Abstract: Some implementations of the disclosure are directed to: receiving an encrypted message from an entity, the encrypted message including a request to determine if a claimant of a distributed attestation is a holder of the distributed attestation; decrypting the encrypted message; using at least a public key of the entity to determine whether the entity is authorized to obtain information about the distributed attestation; and if the entity is authorized to obtain information about the distributed attestation, transmitting a response message to the entity indicating if the claimant of the distributed attestation is the holder of the distributed attestation. Authorization of the entity to obtain information about the distributed attestation may be based on role based access control rights to obtain information about the distributed attestation.

    Abstract: Implementations of the disclosure are directed to using a distributed ledger network and a location beacon device that transmits a secured representations of a location distributed ledger addresses to prove the presence of a user at a particular location and time. In implementations, a method includes: receiving, at a first time, a first beacon, the first beacon including a first secured representation of a distributed ledger address associated with a location; transmitting the first secured representation of the blockchain address to a server system operating as a node on a distributed ledger network; receiving a request from the server system to obtain, at a second time after the first time, a second secured representation of a distributed ledger address; in response to the request, obtaining a second secured representation of a blockchain address associated with a location; and transmitting to the server system, the second secured representation of the blockchain address associated with the location.

    Abstract: In some examples, in response to a request from a client device for information relating to a transaction stored by a blockchain, a system identifies, using information stored in a distributed storage system that stores data for the blockchain, multiple data owner entities from which permissions are to be obtained for access of the information, and determines an authorization requirement for the information based on a smart contract. The system sends authorization information based on the authorization requirement to trigger a retrieval of authorization tokens from the identified data owner entities for access of the information, and sends the information to the client device in response to receiving the authorization tokens.

    Abstract: Examples described herein relate to a blockchain Internet-of-Things (IoT) system. The blockchain IoT system include a blockchain IoT device that generates event data and attests the event data using a decentralized identity provisioned to the blockchain IoT device. The blockchain IoT system further includes a blockchain network coupled to the blockchain IoT device via a network. The blockchain network includes a blockchain IoT management sub-system to receive the event data from the blockchain IoT device, verify the decentralized identity associated with the blockchain IoT device, and upon successful verification of the decentralized identity, process the event data. The blockchain network also includes a blockchain ledger sub-system to verify the processed event data and, upon successful verification of the processed event data, store the processed event data in a distributed ledger.
