    Abstract: The specification discloses apparatus which acts to monitor the presence of logic signals indicative of a control condition at a majority of the circuit elements sampled. A plurality of JK flipflops are cascaded, with a source of clock signal connected to the toggle input of the first flip-flop, and the output of each flip-flop fed to the toggle input of the next succeeding flipflop, the output of the last flip-flop being connected to an indicator. The J and K input terminals of the flip-flops receive biasing signals from sampled circuit elements which are combinatorially connected to the J and K flip-flop terminals.

The means for determining propagation speed uses a known distance between transducers and compares the known distance with a distance calculated using an assumed propagation speed value to generate a more accurate value.

    Abstract: Pulse detection circuitry for accurately measuring the time for transmission of a train of acoustical energy pulses between a transmitter and receiver. One of the pulses has significantly greater amplitude than the other pulses in the train and has a negative-going zero crossing which occurs at a predetermined time in the pulse train. A peak detector and charge sensor is connected to the receiver. The signal from the receiver is also provided to a negative zero crossing detector which generates pulses to start a timer in response to each negative-going zero crossing. A peak detector and charge sensor also connected to the receiver detect when the pulse preceding a negative-going zero crossing is greater in amplitude than preceding pulses and reset the counter upon such detection. A data gate which increases system noise rejection is also disclosed.
