    Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for guiding or otherwise assisting operation of an aircraft en route to an airport. One method involves identifying a reference point in advance of a runway, dynamically determining a gliding vertical trajectory for the aircraft en route to the reference point based at least in part on a current altitude of the aircraft at a current aircraft location and gliding characteristics of the aircraft, and providing a graphical indication of a difference between a predicted altitude of the aircraft at a location corresponding to the reference point resulting from the gliding vertical trajectory and an altitude criterion associated with the reference point. The graphical indication of the difference dynamically updates as the aircraft travels.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and methods for flight planning for an autonomous aerial vehicle. The systems and methods perform a processor executed process of receiving a request for flight planning and retrieving a model for the structure or the feature of interest from one or more databases. The request identifies a structure or a feature of interest to be surveyed by the autonomous aerial vehicle. The one or more databases include a database including models of terrain, airports and obstacles or a database including models of manufactured articles based on original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications or computer aided design (CAD) models. The process includes computing a flight plan that completely surveys the structure or completely surveys the feature of interest based on the retrieved model. The flight plan defines a search pattern with position values. The process includes uplinking the flight plan to the autonomous aerial vehicle.

    Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to aircraft systems and methods including determining, based on location data from a navigation system, whether one or more conditions have been met enabling arming of an approach mode of the autopilot system. The systems and methods include, when the one or more conditions enabling arming of the approach mode are determined to be met, starting a first timer of a first period of time and, at the same time, providing a first message, via an output system to alert a pilot to arm the approach mode via manual input to a user interface. The systems and methods include, when the first period of time has expired and a determination is made that the approach mode has still not been armed, starting a second timer of a second period of time and, at the same time, providing, via the output system, a second message, different to the first message, to arm the approach mode via manual input to the user interface. When the second period of time has expired and a determination has been made that the approach mode continues to have not been armed via manual input to the user interface, the approach mode is automatically armed.

    Abstract: Methods and systems of generating a data driven digital chart. The methods and systems include retrieving a data driven chart for a requested terminal area procedure chart from a database of data driven charts. The data driven charts describe digital terminal area procedure charts by way of data elements for each terminal area procedure chart including geodetic straights, arcs, text elements and symbols defined with respect to location. Some of the data elements are further defined with respect to altitude values assuming a standard atmospheric temperature value. The systems and methods include calculating compensated altitude values for the data elements of the retrieved data driven chart based on a deviation between the outside air temperature value and the standard atmospheric temperature value. The methods and systems include generating a presentation for a display device of the aircraft of the terminal area procedure chart.
