Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a device and method for a traffic forwarding network device and proposes a solution for imbalance issues by adapting load balancing to real traffic conditions. The network device tries to solve imbalance issues locally by readjusting the traffic of problematic flows and in case the issues cannot be solved locally, notifies a central network controller to reconfigure the network in order to solve the imbalance issue.

Abstract: A device for controlling network routing configurations is configured to obtain a predicted traffic matrix and a plurality of traffic matrices, and to determine, from a plurality of clusters, arranged in a hierarchical structure over the predicted traffic matrix and the plurality of traffic matrices, a first cluster allocated to a lower hierarchy level that contains the predicted traffic matrix. Each of the clusters is associated with a routing configuration, and the plurality of clusters are allocated to at least two different hierarchy levels. The device selects, from the plurality of clusters, a second cluster allocated to a higher hierarchy level that includes at least the first cluster and a third cluster allocated to the lower hierarchy level that contains a current traffic matrix, determine a second routing configuration associated with the second cluster; and activate the second routing configuration as a network routing configuration.

Abstract: A controller is configured to obtain traffic information of one or more tunnels in the network, where the traffic information of each tunnel is indicative of a protection type of the tunnel against failures, and provide configuration information to each network node that is a head-end node of a determined tunnel with a certain protection type according to the obtained traffic information of the determined tunnel, where the configuration information includes a bandwidth threshold and a load balancing configuration for the determined tunnel. A network node is configured to receive configuration information from the controller, and send the notification to the controller, if it is determined that the traffic of the tunnel is above the bandwidth threshold.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to smart policy routing in a network. To this end, a network entity is configured to obtain policy information from a controller. The policy information can include one or more global intents and information about at least one SLA requirement for each of the plurality of flow groups. Furthermore, each global intent is indicative of one requirement of a network operator. The network entity further makes one or more routing decisions for the plurality of flow groups based on the policy information. In some examples, a controller is configured to provide policy information to the network entity.

Abstract: A control device for a software programmable network including one or more nodes and supporting traffic of guaranteed quality of service, QoS, and best-effort, BE, traffic with a predetermined resource distribution between guaranteed QoS and BE service classes, comprises: a processing circuitry configured to determine a new resource distribution between guaranteed QoS and BE service classes different from the predetermined resource distribution according to a demand for QoS service, to calculate, for each node, a new configuration indicating the new resource distribution, and to calculate, for each entry node to the network among the one or more nodes, a label distribution sequence indicating one or more label distributions with associated activation timing information so as to reduce jitter or packet loss; and a transceiver configured to transmit the new configurations to respective nodes, and to transmit the label distribution sequences to respective entry nodes.

Abstract: A method, an apparatus and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium for determining multiple disjoint constrained paths in a communications network are disclosed. The method includes selecting upper bounds QoS metrics for each path in a disjoint combination of paths having two or more disjoint paths between a source node and a destination node; determining a minimum-cost disjoint path combination, and a minimum-QoS metric disjoint path combination; computing a maximum QoS metric by summing the QoS metrics of each minimum-cost path in the minimum-cost disjoint path combination, and computing a minimum QoS metric by summing the QoS metrics of each minimum-QoS metric path in the minimum-QoS metric disjoint path combination.
