Abstract: A system for efficient multicast forwarding at a switch is provided. During operation, the switch can maintain a first tunnel with a first switch in a first overlay tunnel fabric, and a second tunnel with a second switch in a second overlay tunnel fabric. The switch can operate as the gateway for both fabrics. The system can obtain a first fabric identifier and a second fabric identifier from multicast control packets received via the first and second tunnels, respectively. A fabric identifier can uniquely identify a fabric. The system can then store, in a data structure, a first network address of the first switch and a second network address of the second switch in association with the first and second fabric identifiers, respectively. The system can determine whether to forward multicast traffic to either one of the first and second fabrics based on the first and second fabric identifiers, respectively.

Abstract: The Distributed Software Defined Network (dSDN) disclosed herein is an end-to-end architecture that enables secure and flexible programmability across a network with full lifecycle management of services and infrastructure applications (fxDeviceApp). The dSDN also harmonizes application deployment across the network independent of the hardware vendor. As a result, the dSDN simplifies the network deployment lifecycle from concept to design to implementation to decommissioning.

Abstract: According to one or more embodiments of the disclosure, an edge node of a virtual overlay for a Layer-2 mesh receives a new flow notification that indicates a destination address for a new flow in the Layer-2 mesh. The virtual overlay is configured to flood replicated frames of the new flow throughout the virtual overlay. The edge node makes a local match between the destination address indicated by the new flow notification and a local address table of the edge node. The edge node sends, based on the local match, a match notification that causes other nodes in the virtual overlay to stop flooding replicated frames of the new flow.

Abstract: A method for creating a secure network is provided. The method comprises establishing an overlay domain to control routing between overlay edge routers based on an underlying transport network, wherein said establishing comprises running an overlay management protocol to exchange information within the overlay domain; in accordance with the overlay management protocol defining service routes that exist exclusively within the overlay domain wherein each overlay route includes information on at least service availability within the overlay domain; and selectively using the service routes to control routing between the overlay edge routers; wherein the said routing is through the underlying transport network in a manner in which said overlay routes is shared with the overlay edge routers but not with the underlying transport network via the overlay management protocol.

Abstract: A method for transporting a Multi-Transport Network Context Identifier (MTNC-ID) over a Segment Routing Version 6 (SRV6) header for fifth generation (5G) transport. The method receives a data packet that includes an MTNC-ID in a data plane header of the data packet. The MTNC-ID is extracted from the data plane header of the data packet, and is encapsulated in an argument field in a last segment of a segment list (SL[0]) of the SRV6 header of the data packet. An instruction for forwarding the MTNC-ID is encapsulated within a function field in the SL[0] of the SRH of the data packet. The data packet is transmitted over a SRV6 enabled data plane domain along a forwarding path corresponding to the MTNC-ID.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a switch. The switch includes a storage device, one or more line cards, and a control card. A respective line card includes one or more ports and forwarding hardware. The control card determines routing and forwarding tables for the switch, and comprises processing circuitry and a management module. The management module manage a tunnel or virtual network at the switch. During operation, the control card determine an event associated with layer-2 operations of the switch. The control card refrains from notifying the management module regarding the event and notifies a first line card in the one or more line cards regarding the event. The first line card then updates a layer-3 forwarding entry in the corresponding forwarding hardware based on the notification.

Abstract: Disclosed are examples of systems, apparatus, devices, computer program products, and methods implementing aspects of a decentralized content fabric. In some implementations, one or more processors are configured to provide fabric nodes of a network, including a first fabric node receiving a client request to perform one or more actions with respect to digital content corresponding to a plurality of content object parts maintained in the network. A lookup is performed on a blockchain ledger in a first blockchain to locate a digital instrument cryptographically linked to a user identifier (ID) of an owner of the digital content. The first fabric node grants the client request based on determining that a user ID associated with the client request matches the user ID of the owner of the digital content. The one or more actions are then performed through a blockchain transaction in the first blockchain or another blockchain.
