    Abstract: Different carriers and/or bandwidth parts (BWPs) may sometimes be utilized for wireless communication between two devices. In some prior wireless communication systems, e.g. in new radio (NR), the carrier used to transmit hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback is semi-statically configured. However, semi-static configuration might be disadvantageous, e.g. for scenarios in which latency is a concern. In some embodiments, the carrier and/or BWP for transmitting HARQ feedback is instead dynamically indicated. More generally, when two devices are wirelessly communicating with each other, the carrier and/or BWP to be used for transmitting control information may be dynamically indicated.

    Abstract: A timing advance (TA) value is a time offset that may be applied by a UE to compensate for the propagation delay of the UE and thereby cause the UE's uplink transmissions to be time synchronized with the uplink transmissions of other UEs. However, a UE may possibly operate in different states, and in some states (e.g. a power saving state) the UE does not maintain uplink synchronization. If the UE has information to transmit, and the UE is operating in a state in which there is no uplink synchronization, then the overhead of performing uplink synchronization in order to transmit the information must be incurred. Systems and method are instead disclosed for providing TA values to maintain timing synchronization, e.g. even when the UE is in a power-saving state.

    Abstract: When a UE is in a power saving state, and the network has downlink data to send to the UE, a paging message may be transmitted in the downlink. Paging may have high overhead when beamforming is implemented. In some embodiments, a UE-specific notification is instead transmitted in a downlink beam pointed in the direction of the UE. The UE-specific notification may be a paging message specific to the UE that indicates that there is downlink data for transmission to that UE. However, more generally the UE-specific notification may be any type of downlink notification for a UE. The notification may include downlink beam information.

    Abstract: During operation of some wireless communication systems, a user equipment (UE) may monitor a control channel for a downlink notification. An example of a downlink notification is a paging notification. It is desirable to reduce the amount of power consumed when monitoring for downlink notifications. In some embodiments, power savings may possibly be provided by reducing the frequency resources (e.g. bandwidth) over which monitoring for downlink notifications is to occur. In some embodiments, there may be an association between: (i) UE type, capability, and/or service, and (ii) which configuration of resources is used for the monitoring of downlink notifications. In some embodiments, there may be different possible configurations of frequency resources to be used during an initial access procedure, with each configuration possibly having a different bandwidth of frequency resources allocated for the initial access procedure.
