摘要: An electrical connector includes a base (2′), a metal clip (3) pivotably engaged on the base, and a lever (4) for fastening the clip onto the base. A floor (232′) is defined in a middle of the base. A rectangular raised support area (23′) is provided around a periphery of the floor. The support area defines four inner side walls (231′). The side walls and the floor cooperatively define a substantially rectangular cavity (230′) therebetween. One of the side walls defines a pair of protrusions (2310′) protruding towards the cavity, wherein the two protrusions are coplanar with each other. The other side walls define a protrusion thereof respectively. Therefore, a first benchmark is obtained by a line joining the pair of protrusions on the side wall, and a second benchmark is determined by a line passing the protrusion on the adjacent and perpendicular side wall, perpendicular to the first benchmark.

摘要: An electrical connector assembly (100) made in accordance with a preferable embodiment of the present invention comprises an electrical socket (20) with a plurality of contacts received therein, an IC module (30) mounted onto the electrical socket (20) so as to make electrical connection therebetween, a heat sink assembly (40) pressing on the IC module (30) and including a heat spreader (401), and a clip (50) fastening the heat sink assembly (40) above the IC module (30). The IC module (30) comprises a substrate (301) and at least one die (302) attached on a top surface of the substrate (301). The clip (50) has a set of first fingers (504) for pressing the die (301) of the IC module (30) and a set of second fingers (505) for pressing the substrate (301) of the IC module (30).

摘要: A pick up cap for an LGA connector assembly, the LGA connector has an insulative housing for receiving an electronic package such as CPU therein, a plurality of electrical contacts received in the housing. A clip disposed on the housing to press the CPU upon the contacts, and a pick up cap mounted on the clip, the pick up has extending portion, and the extending portion has an uplift which defines a concave, the concave can supply a sufficiently big operating space for operator's fingertip to detach the pick up cap away from the connector.

摘要: A socket connector (1) includes an insulative housing (2) and a plurality of terminals (7) received in the housing. The housing defines a plurality of passageways (24) for accommodating the corresponding terminals. Each passageway forms a step (248) therein for dividing the passageway into a receiving channel (246) and an interfering channel (242). Each terminal defines a fastening portion (70) for securing the terminal in the passageway and the fastening portion forms a pair of straight interfering sides (710). The distance from one of two straight interfering sides to the other is greater than the width of the interfering channel. When the terminal is installed into the housing, the terminal is firmly positioned in corresponding passageway by virtue of the interfering force between the two straight interfering sides and the interfering channel.

摘要: A land grid array connector (10) for electrically connecting a CPU package to a printed circuit board includes a housing (30) having a top surface (320) and a number of terminals received in passageways (31) of the housing. Each of the terminals has a retention portion (52), a spring arm (54) extending from the retention portion beyond the top surface. A contacting portion (58) is formed on a topmost part of the spring arm for electrically mating with a corresponding pad formed on a bottom of the CPU package. A plurality of protrusions (324) is formed on the top surface for protect the terminals from being accidental damaged, A common supporting surface (326) is formed cooperatively by the protrusions, above the contacting portion in a direction perpendicular to the top surface. This can protect the contacting portion of the terminal from being collided. As a result reliable electrical connection between the package and contacts of the land grid array connector is secured.

摘要: An LGA socket (1) includes a slab like insulative housing (11), a reinforcing plate (12) attached on an exterior surface of the housing, and a clip (14) and a lever (15). The clip and the lever are respectively mounted on two opposite ends of the housing to fasten an LGA package. The lever includes a driver portion (151), a driven portion (152) adjoining the driver portion, and a baffle (124) extending from a side of the reinforcing plate. The baffle prevents the lever from breaking away from the housing. After the LGA package is positioned on the housing, the rigidity of the housing is improved with the reinforcing plate made of rigid material being equipped on the housing. Steady electrical connection between the contacts pads of the LGA package and respective contacts of the housing is ensured.

Each stiffener is positioned in a corresponding retaining space of the housing and includes opposite first and second portions (102, 103), and a third portion (101). The first portion defines a plurality of mounting holes (106). An outer face of each side portion defines a plurality of thread holes (119) corresponding to the mounting holes of the stiffener. A plurality of screws (14) mechanically connects the stiffeners with the housing through the thread holes of the housing and the mounting holes of the stiffeners. As a result, a structure of the housing is reinforced.
