Abstract:
A method of evening a sliver produced by a carding machine in which a predetermined output rate and draft are set. The method includes the steps of determining the actual weight of a predetermined sliver length by weighing; determining the difference between the actual sliver weight and a desired sliver weight; as a function of the difference altering the draft corresponding to a predetermined sliver thickness; measuring momentary actual thicknesses of the running sliver at a card output for a determined time period or sliver length and generating mechanical signals representing the momentary actual sliver thicknesses; converting the mechanical signals to first electric signals; combining the first electric signals into a second electric signal constituting an average of the first electric signals and representing the actual sliver thickness of the measured sliver; storing the second electric signal; applying the second electric signal to a computer; applying to the computer a third electric signal representing the actual sliver weight; and determining, with the computer and from a function between the actual sliver weight and the actual sliver thickness, a desired sliver thickness corresponding to a desired sliver weight.
Abstract:
An apparatus for evening a fiber lap fed to a carding machine. The latter has a licker-in, a feed table and a feed roller cooperating with one another in feeding the fiber lap to the licker-in; a drive motor connected to the feed roller; and an arrangement providing for a relative movement of the feed roller and the feed table towards or away from one another as a function of the thickness of the fiber material passing therebetween. There is further provided an excursion measuring device for generating signals representing the magnitude of the relative movement; and a control device connected to the excursion measuring device. The control device is connected to the drive motor for regulating the rpm of the feed roller as a function of the relative motion between feed roller and feed table. A delay device is connected between the excursion measuring device and the control device for delaying transmittal of signals from the excursion measuring device to the control device. An angular displacement measuring device for generating signals corresponding to an angular displacement of the feed roller is connected to the delay device for varying the extent of delay of transmittal of signals by the delay device as a function of the signals generated by the angular displacement measuring device.
Abstract:
Techniques for regulating calcining processes, particularly the calcining of lime containing materials, which are supplied as pulverized raw material, into cement clinkers in a cylindrical rotary koln, provides that the exhaust gas preheats the raw material and the calcined material preheats the combustion air. The quantity of raw material and the quantity of combustible material, the temperature of the combustion air and of the exhaust gas, as well as the composition of the exhaust gas, and additional parameters of the process are continuously measured and partially controlled. From the continuously measured individual values of the process a characteristic value describing the condition of the process, particularly the supply of heat, is formed, and is utilized to regulate the calcining process.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an arrangement for the discrete-time adaptive on-off switching control of a continuous-time process with a binary switching actuator, which uses for the determination of the on-off actuating signal a prediction of a process output sequence over several future sampling intervals as reaction to a possible process input sequence that is applied to a discrete-time linear process model and which estimates and updates in every sampling interval the parameters of the process model by means of a parameter estimation device in order to adapt them to the process to be controlled, even when the process behavior changes, and which has a device for the input and change of the setpoint, the limits of the process output and the sampling time as well as a measuring device for the periodical measurement of the process input. The arrangement further comprises two alternatively working control devices one of which is active in the stationary phase and the other of which is active in the start-up phase of the process or after setpoint changes, and a switching device which activates one or the other said control device in dependence of the result of the measurement of the process output and of input current setpoint, wherein the actuator is served by the active control device.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a method and device for regulating a cement burning system to make it more efficient. A product stream, in keeping with customary practice, passes successively through a pre-heating zone, a calcining zone, a sintering zone, and a cooling zone. In accordance with the present invention, the degree of deacidification of the product in the area of the calcining zone is determined by one of several methods and this determination is translated into control signals which control at least one parameter of the method in response to the degree of deacidification.
